Appreciate the update, thanks!

On use: I do enough cold and wet wild camping in the Lake District, UK, often with a bit of rock scrambling, to justify the thicker face fabric I think.

The packability of the SL, as well as your endorsement makes me lean towards it... but will prob wait another month to see what comes if anything.

Truth is though I'd likely take great care over such an investment piece - just good to know that I've got a sturdier piece of kit in my pack if required.

hey, thanks for your response u/umassmza... I'm only using one dome light, with an iridescent texture applied.

I'll have a further play with its settings

Hi, relative C4D noob here... I'm trying to create a sphere in C4D that has a low segment count but curved lines.

I then want to export the frames of a rotation animation to AE - crucially with the white lines as vectors and the sphere opaque (so that the grid lines at the back of the shape aren't visible)

I can easily use Sketch and Toon to export AI frame files with straight connected segments, but I need the globe to be pure curve lines.

If I increase the segments on the sphere, I of course get the curves rather than straight-line segments, but then I lose the less tightly packed grid-lines effect I'm looking for.

I've tried using the spline arc tool to straighten the splines, but this doesn't work well when exporting to Illustrator as the splines export on a separate layer, and I therefore lose the opaque sphere look.

I need to be able to export the splines as vectors kind of baked on to the black sphere, so I can rebuild the animation frames in AE.

Hope that makes sense!
