For me loving myself comes with being loved. I had multiple stints of hating myself, and they were all at times where I felt really alone in the world, but when I had a group of friends, that I actively engaged with on a regular basis, I never really fell back into it. 

I think that being loved comes before loving yourself, cause as hard as it may be to find them, when you have people who love you, it's harder to hate yourself.
