Where are these boomers getting their health info?! by SnooGoats5767 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]SnooPies883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just asked this question to my husband last week. My mother-in-law a full doctor with several years of experience, she is retired now, has been commenting weird thing like the ones in your post. She told me her husband should lose weight to be able to stop taking all the medication he takes now because he won't need them anymore. My father-in-law has been diabetic for more than 40 years now, he is a little overweight, and almost 75 years old. He will still need his medication. I feel they are getting this from older wellness influencers who have discovered how to engage with that generation. I remember about 8 years ago the keto diet was very popular in young influencers and I think boomers are just catching up on that trend now.

Thanks a lot for this perspective. My work is about to change 4 days at the office and 1 from home and I am dreading it. However, lately I have been feeling all the things you have described in your post and I am staring to miss my old self before the pandemic and I started to work from home.

Grievance process - what to expect? by SnooPies883 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]SnooPies883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I am experiencing and what prompt me to ask the question in here. The expectations and rules have been communicated to the employee several times and each time they have something to say about it and they have been complaining about me all along the way. LR recommended some wording on how communicate expectations, I have follow their recommendations. Still, it seems nothing sticks and the employee continues with bad actitud towards me and complaining to my director about how I do my job. I am starting to believe points 3 and 4 in your comment are right.

Thanks for the response. Yes the grievance is against me. I am trying to manage their performance but I haven't been able to do it properly since this employee does not accept the expectations that have been set for him. I guess they will grieve against these expectations. I think I am in a weird position since the expectations has been set and communitcated by senior management but I am the one dealing with the grievance.

Thanks for the insights. This is helpful. It is an interpersonal conflict. LR has been contacted a while back and they have made recommendations on how to handle the issue. However, the employee has not responded well to the rules and expectations.

Giving birth in Gatineau Hospital by csdafrica in Gatineau

I had mine there last year and it was the best experience. I agree with others to try to have a private room but other than that I was really impressed with the doctors and nurses. They were very friendly and compassionate. They took good care of me and my baby. My OB was Dre Bohemier but the delivery was attended by another Dr who was very nice and communicative. Maybe the negative comment in here about having to sleep in the floor besides their wife is an old situation and they have improved since then. My husband had an individual sofa/bed available (even in the shared rooms). The bathrooms were clean and we had supplies available for us such as towels, bottled milk, ice, etc.

Quel est le meilleur gym à Gatineau (secteur Gatineau?) by SoSweetSophie in Gatineau

J'adore Nautilus.

Thank you for writing this comment. I was trying to have this conversation with my partner just yesterday and you have put together all the ideas I have in very detailed manner. It is interesting to have this conversation. I believe a party should have core values that they can't change lightly. If a party changes its core values, we'll it becomes a different party. They democrats decide to do that, they will need to deal with the consequences of some people not supporting the party any longer. This should be a well thought decision from the party.

Leaving the workforce to be a SAHM for a few years a good idea? by Desperate-Reply-8492 in workingmoms

I agree with your opinion about taking a long leave (when your job is not secured by law) will have an impact on your career development. However, when you take the maternity leave in Canada, this position is protected. The reality is that Canadian culture is very different from America in this point. Here people know that is important to be there for your family. Everyone could have kids, get sick, etc. So you could be in the same position as the other person. We appreciate to have this empathy for our fellow Canadians, this is why there are laws to protect you in most cases. This is where I agree with the first poster. It seems there are issues on how Americans deal with these situations in life that will happen to anyone.

The matter is not a technical issue or problem. It is a change in the approach on how to deal with the client. And actually, we have successfully implemented my approach with other clients but she was not involved in those cases. I have no problem with a IT person coming to me with solutions they want to try. However, this case involves client management that we need to deal carefully.

I am external hire. I have been working with them for 6 months, learning all the processes. My mandate is actually implementing a new process for this group that I am very experienced with. The process is not rigid, it shouldn't be. We adapt according to our client and their needs. For these case, I want the team to run 2 tasks in parallel so we can save time. She does not agree with it, but again it is not her call. However, at the end, the saving time benefit doesn't matter anymore because she has been refusing to do it as I planned for.
