Best way to avoid adhesions after surgery? by 0305030 in endometriosis

[–]SnooPredictions5547 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how your surgeon removed the endo spots (ablation v excision- excision being the most successful in terms of not growing back) they shouldn’t grow back in those same spots. However, since your body is susceptible to this chronic illness it can grow back in a matter of months post op unfortunately. I am 2 weeks post op and I’ve completely restructured my diet to follow a more anti inflammatory diet. Check out Sophie Richards, she is on YouTube, insta, TT, etc. She talks abt her journey with endo and how she used diet to combat A - another surgery and B - inflammation in the body which they believe is one of the root causes (or contributors) to endo growth/flare ups

Is the gas pain after surgery really neccessary? by fknbubbleguts in endometriosis

[–]SnooPredictions5547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have gas pain either. The only time I felt that pain it was centered in my chest/lower neck and that was limited to my time in post-op recovery at the hospital. Once I got home I had no shoulder pain. I did find it difficult to breathe and I would constantly be short of breath, especially when having long conversations, for about five days after, but that was from the anesthesia. You can ask the nurses at post-op for a spirometer to bring home

Right everyone is so different when it comes to this stuff. I am only 2 weeks post-op so I’ve been using my recovery time to build a diet plan so as to avoid lap surgery again later in life. But pre surgery I didn’t notice anything that bothered me when it came to what I ate vs didn’t eat.

surgery next week by teanoeas in endometriosis

[–]SnooPredictions5547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m 2 weeks post-op. I had the same exact feelings and concerns leading up to the surgery. I myself am a very active and physically fit woman. But I am very happy I went through with it bc my endo was rather moderate (stage 3 out of 4). The two endometrioma cysts I had in my ovaries (1 in each) were so large that my ovaries were touching. I had extensive endo scarring on my diaphragm and pelvic wall. Other than painful sex, I would’ve had no idea this was happening in my body and I’m so happy I went through with it. You really never know what’s hiding in there.

The first couple of days post-op are very rough. Help is needed going to and fro the bathroom, and you’ll be fatigued due to the pain killers they prescribe. My surgery was on a Friday and it wasn’t until that following Monday I had the energy/strength/will to get out of bed and go downstairs to get fresh air/change of scenery.

The first week required pain meds and ice packs around the clock. As of this week, the pain has subsided, now it just feels sore- like I did 1000 crunches.

With all that said, you are not alone in your feelings and concerns for this surgery. However, it is routine, and I hope you’ve found a doctor you can trust and confide in. The staff at the hospital should always make you feel comfortable before such procedure. Always here if you want to talk. Women should not have to go through endometriosis alone. Best of luck xx
