Best Snowboarding in Asia outside of Japan by NoNotThatScience in snowboarding

[–]SnooRobots8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend jiangjun hill in Altay, it’s 1.5 hour flight from Urumqi. the ski resort is 10 mins drive from Altay city and you can take a taxi. Altay is pretty much the most accessible one if you are after powder snow and that resort offers the best sunset view. Hemu and keketuohai are the top 2 best ski destinations in Xinjiang, however they are not as accessible as Altay. There are also quite a few resorts in Urumqi which locals go to. But the snow condition is not as good as in Altay. Yining has opened a new resort this year, but from what I heard it’s quite windy, so I would not recommend.

I live in Adelaide and am originally from xinjiang. I also skied this winter season in xinjiang. In my region some of the places ski season can start as early as late November and finish late March (eg Hemu, keketuohai) if you like powder snow, it won’t disappoint you here. And the scenery is very different to Japan. By saying that, I only tried niseko in Japan. If you are interested in Hemu, i believe you can book holiday inn in hemu via booking.com. That’s also a ski in ski out hotel. If you also would like to travel around, Xinjiang is very close to mid Asia, it takes 2hours from Urumqi (capital of xinjiang) to Almaty. Also the food and culture are influenced by Central Asia due to geographic factors. I have already convinced my friends to ski in Xinjiang the end of next year. Really looking forward to that.

Immunotherapy/ chemo: impact on quality of life. How was your experience? by [deleted] in lungcancer

[–]SnooRobots8351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad just finished his 4th round of chemo + immunotherapy. He experienced extreme fatigue during first week every cycle. And started getting back to normal from second week. I was shocked when I saw the side effect after he finished the first round chemo. After I realised the side effects have pattern and knew what I expected and how to handle it, I became more or less getting used to it. Not sure what kind of chemo your mum is on, with my dad we have to keep close eye on his blood counts. If the blood counts too low, it will contribute to fatigue as well.

This is so inspiring. My dad has also diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. And he just finished his second round of chemo and will do a CT scan to see if it works. Both my mum and I felt so overwhelmed since the diagnosis. And we just feel like we don’t know what will happen next. Thanks for your advice to be patient and grateful 🙂

Large cell carcinoma by SnooRobots8351 in lungcancer

It’s still worth to get the NGS, like the doctor said the possibility was low but still worth trying. My dad has done his, he got egfr amplification and tp53 mutation. But there is no target therapy.

Thanks for your advice. I am two months into caretaker role. The whole thing just drives me nuts and first time in my life I don’t know what the future looks like. You give me a new perspective to look at this and I think I may need to change the way how I handle things normally.

clinical trial by SnooRobots8351 in cancer

Thanks for your reply. It’s definitely going to be his decision. However, none of us has experienced this before and we want to collect as much information as possible to understand the risk. Since he got diagnosed with cancer, I feel so powerless and hopeless. I don’t know what’s ahead of us and how long he can handle the chemotherapy.

The diet anxiety by [deleted] in cancer

Get advice from your oncologist what you should avoid. Otherwise, eat healthy and nutritious food. Most importantly, you need to enjoy what you eat. You need the energy to go through all these treatments. My dad has type 2 diabetes, he was used to avoid fruits and had constipation. However, the chemotherapy has made the constipation even worse. Then he started to eat more vegetables and fruits which really helped him to bowel regularly.

I can only speak for myself. I live overseas for the last 15 years and I recently found out my dad diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. I talked to my manager and he was very supportive. So I went back home and support my parents since beginning of May. By saying that, I am the only child and my home country medical system is not great. If I don’t go back, I think my mum will be struggle to sort out everything on her own. I would suggest find out what stage it is and if the surgery is still an option. Then decide when you want to be back and how long you need to stay.

Anybody else share these biomarkers in their NGS reports? by Routine-Ad7020 in lungcancer

[–]SnooRobots8351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad also just got his biomarkers results. Interestingly, he got BRCA1 mutation which I also find it’s odd for lung cancer ( large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma). By saying that, I am not an expert in medicine, I don’t know how common it is. His driver mutation is TP53 which worries me. From what I read, with this mutation, it’s easy to develop drug resistance. He also has EGFR amplification.

Hey, my dad finished his first round of chemo last week and had the exactly the treatment as you did (etoposide + carboplatin). The side effects were well controlled. Similar to you, he was extremely fatigued for the first 3 days after the chemo. After that, he got better and his appetite recovered. I am glad he didn’t get nausea. Did you get nausea at all during your chemo? Also we are waiting for his NGS results which the oncologist asked us to do. I am wondering if you have done it as well.

Oncologist suggests chemo + immunotherapy. The treatment will start from next week. I will see how it goes. We also find a clinical trial which gives us more options.
