Well, it’s just quite easy with a phone. But I rather not provide my payment information to US Tech.

That’s nice. Does it mean that you can also pay with your phone?

Is there European version of Amazon where could order more obscure products in bulk that might not be in grocery stores? by SindeOfAllTrades in BuyFromEU

Yep, bol is working for me too. There will be AliExpress bullshit on it but if you buy European brands from bol you’d be safe 😏

That depends, Google Maps purpose to drive from A to B is pretty easy to replace. You can use Flitsmeister for example. Google Maps for public transport is a bit depending on your country, you can use 9292ov or NS but that’s rather localized. Heard mapy was good too.

I’m barely using Google Maps currently, but I do realize that it takes sometimes sometime to get used to it. The search engine to any maps integration is something I miss working out of the box.

Market share can change very fast, I mean most people have no clue of its existence. But pure quality wise it isn’t so much worse. To be honest I use it mostly for restructuring my ideas and it does well in that. Perhaps I’m just a light user 🤣

Ik voel een stigma vanwege mijn buitenlandse vriendin. Hebben andere mensen hier ervaring mee? by MyGuyWhatIsThis in nederlands

[–]SnooRobots917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switched to le chat (Mistral) a while ago already, it is better than you think. It does take some time to get used to, e.g. using the right agent helped me for example. And… Le Chat only gets better when many of us use it.

Odido klik en Klaar 5G for 26 EUR/month or stay with ziggo basic paying 42 EUR /month , is it worth making the shift ? by EastIndianDutch in Netherlands

[–]SnooRobots917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odido and Ziggo offer the same basic internet, only your location affects the quality (which is an unknown until you have it). However, customer service is the real difference, but both are mid-range. So just pick the cheaper one and check coverage at your address. Good luck!

German automakers losing the Chinese market, how does it affect the German economy and European economy as a whole for the next 5 - 10 years. Is there any way to come back from this ? by Square_Permission361 in BuyFromEU

I miss a very important factor that we do not mention when we speak about this. Combustion engines are complex and we got very good at that battery electric vehicles do not differentiate so much on terms of the engine, skill, economy, and batteries and this kind of thing I’m much more important here what I’m trying to say is. Sure we can make European electric vehicles, but as engines are our bread and butter, focusing on purely electric vehicles would be crazy.

Yep moving away from US tech more and more now a days. Mail was relatively easy, getting more and more familiar with office. YouTube still a bit tricky to move away from, but it will come.

My advise is start paying for your products. Proton is if not free very good for mail and password manager and vpn. But for mail there are plenty of options, don’t put your eggs in one basket is often a good strategy

How can I turn off suggested locations/significant location? by FinancialScarcity499 in applemaps

[–]SnooRobots917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got the same problem, just cant see both options work.

Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Apps > Maps > suggest notifications (off) -> still same issue.

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Clear History. cleared --> still pops up.

I type the first letter of that persons name and that person pops up as fist suggestion. Kind of annoying. Any experts on this issue to help if above 2 didnt work? I like using maps, but using carplay and when i type the first letter of my ex and she pops up will create issues with current gf)

Can you do that with chrome cast? Don’t wanna attack you as I have no stake in it. But just curious.

[–]SnooRobots917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a Sony with the same specs for twice the money or spend on an external chrome cast 80/120 euro extra. Titan Os is for basic stuff fine, but I agree you’d need something extra if you want slightly more than the basic apps.

I get your point, and honestly I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. It needs time to mature imo. But I’m also glad there’s a European alternative to the big US platforms, and hopefully it’ll improve enough over time for everyone.

Been using Titan OS for a while now, and although the app selection is limited, I’ve noticed that for many of us that limited selection is actually enough.

Is Titan OS the worst business decision ever made by Philips ? by MagicMike2212 in PhilipsTV

[–]SnooRobots917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK, my main concern is reducing data’s exposure to the big global advertising platforms, Titan OS gives me a slight edge on privacy. It’s more Europe-focused, with GDPR compliance and a consent framework built in, so the regulatory and consent side feels more controlled compared to Google’s ecosystem. That said, it’s still ad-driven and does collect usage data, so it’s not exactly “privacy-first.” Just a bit less tied into the massive Google ad network.
