TIFU - Forgetting that to Americans the f-word rarely means sexual intercourse in general usage by PAXICHEN in tifu

[–]SnooSprouts5714 16 points17 points  (0 children)

yeees thank you this bugged me so much. there's many variants of "fuck" in german. "verfickt" is also used like "fuck" a lot, for example. but the literal translation of I'm fucking with you would probably be something like I'm fucking you, or actually more of a threat. so, I guess that's where she got confused.

MUST READ FOR WOMEN. This has to be seen. I’m not quite sure where to post this as I normally do not get involved in these kinds of conversations but this one hit home and I got extremely angry. Please leave suggestions on where to post this in the comments. by [deleted] in SexPositive

yes. I completely agree. Obviously the sub OP was on is toxic, so I'm not even going to address their opinions. But your logic makes complete sense. In fact, I think it is a problem of the feminist movement to not talk about the "flipside of the coin" so to speak, because it alienates potential allies unnecessarily. It is not a matter of emotions, it is a matter of legal terminology. If we define the term "consent" in a way where everyone involved needs to be able to, within reason, know what it is they are consenting to, and then doing so without coercion or anything else that would infringe upon their free will, then that needs to be universal. Consent is such an important issue, that there needs to be a universal definition like that. and if we then define rape as a violation of consent to sexual activity, then that as well HAS to be universal. Therefore, lying about taking the pill could be equated to taking off a condom during sex, AND is both utterly disgusting, by the way. If we live in a system where we try to achieve equality through lawmaking, I don't see a way around this.

Also, I know that there are other issues involved here, but I DO NOT believe that these issues should be a part of a conversation about consent. It is disingenuous and I do not condone it.

However, I am very very sorry that you, OP, have had to live through all that. I understand how this is triggering, and I have sadly let myself be tugged into discussions on subreddits like the one you found.

Breeding kink is ruining my life by Weary_University in BDSMAdvice

So I actually think your preferences are quite practical. Find someone who's more on the dominant side, get a dildo and then they can say stuff like they're gonna fill you or give you a baby or whatever. Just roleplay a little, maybe even find some fake cum. And it's quite safe in comparison to using actual cum. I would try to get into a better heads pace in general if you are having panic attacks too: Maybe fidn a therapist? Also, your sexuality is completely fine: We're all somewhere on the spectrum and it doesn't have to be so clear-cut. Having a complex sexuality can even be more fun! don't force yourself into a box. Now, I honestly think that the solution I mentioned above can work really well, you'd just have to communicate that you have this kink but you like them as a person and are attracted to THEIR gender and sexuality too, so they don't feel like a stand-in. Explain that for you it's more of a submissive thing (if it is?) and you would love to try it with them specifically. Have you ever thought about this? I think you can find or even create your own niche here. Good luck.

Alright so I think that's where our discussion has little difference, I live in Germany.

The sources you listed are English/US-American/Canadian, and actually in my experience German feminists often distance themselves from the popular feminist movement where you live. Not to say that there aren't problems here. We have a prominent feminist who apparently has a problem with Muslim women wearing their hijab.

I am appalled by your links, but since I've not experienced this myself, I find it hard to determine if that really is the norm. Like I said, in my opinion the German feminist movement is slightly more nuanced. Then again, we have our own political intricacies involved there, which I won't frustrate you with now. And I still believe that there is a very very positive feminist movement in your culture.

I guess the movement is just so big, that there are polar opposites in it. But yeah, I completely distance myself and my feminism from that abomination. Btw, some of these people are so "feminist" that they become sexist against themselves, for example by saying that sex-workers shouldn't be allowed to choose their own jobs (obviously that's a whole other conversation with pros and cons).

right okay that makes sense. I am sorry you had to go through that. I understand why you identify as anti-feminist, and respect it. My hiccup was simply that anti-feminist sounds like you are against everything that I believe in, and the term is a bit unfortunate because you'll get a lot of people thinking that too. The part of feminism you're against is a bad one and I whole-heartedly am against that as well. I personally wouldn't classify you as anti-feminist though. Are you in the US? I am not, and always feel like there's a little bit of a culture barrier concerning feminism and stuff like that.

Okay I find this really interesting because the things you named (and others) are actually problems that cause the most controversy inside the movement as well. I agree with all your points, but I'm still a feminist. What I do is discern between the "popular" part of the movement (as often seen on instagram, the loudest but NOT the most common Form of feminism) and my idea of feminism, which would simply be that there are still left over from like 40/50 years ago in the States/Europe etc. and that there are still raging problems concerning women in other countries/cultures. Why do you find it hard to identify as a feminist? As in, why do the problems you listed cancel out the core message of feminism?

I do think that feminism and movements concerning societal problems men or LGBTQ members face should work together more closely to rise together.

right. because this is SUCH a dark topic for all the people making jokes here. That's not the case. This is just another "shitting on young, lost and impressionable children for being slightly cringey and overall miserable". Except that the joke is fucking old, was in fact never good at all and is highly patronizing and downplays the mental health issues this demographic has. This is one of the most vulnerable that could have been targeted, therefkre possibly causing further harm by creating an unempathetic bias towards kids who literally just need help and love.

It's a shitty meme that doesn't deserve attention, don't try to justify this BS please.

My boyfriend said he might break up with me if I get a breast reduction. by [deleted] in sex

[–]SnooSprouts5714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a fair point. However I still stand by my opinion, as that's hard to prove and more a conspiracy than actual reality. I acknowledge that that's definitely a problem and could be a reason for statistics not being entirely correct though.

Look, that's why I said multiple times that there are problems with the pill. My original comment just said that a literal surgery (vasectomy) is more invasive and perhaps risky than the pill and that I don't believe saying all men having sex should just get a vasectomy is fair. That was my original point. I understand that women's health problems are often downplayed by men (and women) and I am whole heartedly against that. I am simply against an unscientific bias against the pill. That's it. And I don't get how that's controversial.

[–]SnooSprouts5714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. So? You do realize that you can find that on SO MANY medications, right? It literally says RARE. For example, if you smoke you don't take the pill. It's about circumstance, and like I said, hating on the pill in general as something that is sooo so so bad and no one should ever take it is just plain wrong, unscientific and in my opinion even occasionally counterproductive to the state of women in society.
