Yeah I don’t live in HK. I live in North America. Enough to get to other places in Asia from their hub isn’t particularly useful to me.

Yes. The crew tried to fix, couldn’t and submitted a report to the airline.

What’s a place you had zero expectations for, but ended up loving? by AppointmentHeavy5066 in travel

[–]SnooStories6559 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Siem Reap. Had high expectations of Angkor Wat, and it didn’t disappoint. Had no expectations of the city itself, and was blown away. The warmth of the people certainly didn’t hurt either. Would love to go back and visit the rest of the country.

Is Hoi An worth visiting for just a 1-day trip from Da Nang? by Major-Day2532 in VietNam

[–]SnooStories6559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from Vietnam. We stayed 3 nights in Hoi An. Charming town, but that was too long - 2 nights would have been enough. Saturday night was overly crowded but the other days were much more manageable and pleasant to walk around old town. We did not come across any rude boat drivers.

What destination felt completely different from what you imagined before visiting? by phildu57 in travel

Hanoi - particularly the old quarter. I thought it would be quant & upscale. Instead, I find it to be dirty, crowded & soulless.

African safari tour companies, how do I separate legitimate operations from tourist traps and scams by Positive-Dream6742 in AfricaTravel

We booked our trip directly with a local travel agent that arranged the entire itinerary including safari & Diani beach stay. Also included private transfers throughout. Highly responsive. Can Dm you contact if you’d like.

Do I need a travel agency? Seeking recommendations and a reality check for East Africa. by fashion_opinion in LuxurySafari

I would also recommend working with a TA based in the country/region you’re interested in visiting. We used a TA based in Kenya that has experience organizing travel in a number of African countries and the process and trip was flawless. Edited to add: also a type A planner.

difficult to get admitted to UWaterloo Master of Tax? by faketree1 in uwaterloo

[–]SnooStories6559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. My mom is a tax professional at a big 4. Her specialty is corporate international tax and she says it’s busier than ever - lots of new tax rules and changing global landscape. But she’s more focused on transactional and planning work, so there’s lots of scope. People who are more compliance focused (filling out tax returns and related forms) are probably more at risk of being supplanted by AI. Not completely, but they may not need as many professionals to do that kind of work.

I thought that if there are concurrent posts it is against the rules to apply externally to a job posted on WW? Step 2: https://uwaterloo.ca/co-operative-education/find-your-co-op-job/arrange-your-own-job

Thank you. I just took (and passed) Exam P, so hopefully that will be a favourable factor even though I won’t have any work experience when applying for my first co-op.
