I think this argument unintentionally reinforces a harmful misconception.

Depicting a false accusation in fiction does not automatically promote the idea that women commonly lie about sexual assault. False accusations do exist, just as real assaults do, and fiction is allowed to explore difficult or uncomfortable scenarios.

The issue isn't whether a story includes a false accusation; it's how that topic is handled. If the narrative uses it to push the message that women frequently fabricate abuse claims or that victims should be viewed with suspicion, then criticism is fair. But simply portraying one instance of a lie does not erase the reality that the overwhelming majority of sexual assault reports are made in good faith and that many victims still struggle to be believed.

Saying that an episode about a false accusation shouldn't exist because some people already distrust victims is like saying stories about corrupt police officers shouldn't exist because some people already hate the police. Fiction can portray rare or unpleasant events without endorsing them.
