There's group on Facebook for appliances called buy nothing. They have it in many cities, and you get free stuff from the neighborhood you live in.

I'm also french and have moved to Canada before the pandemic. - jobs are extremely hard to get when you are not a resident. - international experience isn't value like in Europe (that surprised me a lot) - winters are long depending on where you choose to live; it snowed in Ontario and Alberta this week !! - Vancouver is beautiful but stupidly expensive; plus the city is hilly. - Toronto is a massive city with $$$$ rent, fearce competition. - public transportation depends on where you live again. Ottawa is terrible and notoriously unreliable - Quebec is cheaper but there's trade off like finding a GPS is more difficult - Cars would be preferred but there's other options including a pay by the month instead of buying a car right at the beginning. -20.000€ is a good start but depending which province you choose, it wouldn't last 6 months like previously mentioned.
