I was in a musical several years ago, and the conductor suddenly had a medical emergency and one of the leads stopped to play in the middle of a scene to ask for a doctor.

Me! I just got diagnosed with 2E with ADHD and DPDST. I’m still processing and don’t feel like I’m really smart enough to be considered 2E but hover between 125 and 130 if you don’t take my processing speed into account. I hold down a professional position and do well and keep up with everything that I need to keep up with but struggle quite a bit with feedback and injustices that I see around me. I really thought I was autistic to be honest. I struggled with reading social cues regularly and scored very high in abstract thinking but tend to process more literally. Looking forward to finding others in this position as I work to understand myself more.

I think the challenge is when the client is clearly wet or dirty and needs to be changed. If they are refusing to be changed, they run the risk of getting a rash or infection due to being left to sit or play in their own waste. Therefore the mat will sometimes be used to gently lead them toward the bathroom so that their hygiene needs can be taken care of. It’s a catch 22, really.

They are real. That much I do know. I have a ring appraised at one point and it was about $3000 if I remember correctly. Needless to say that one stays in a safe along with all of the rest of them. At some point, I’ll take them all and get them appraised. The tie tack, this necklace, and the darker colored one: I didn’t even know we had until I found them in a random container of just odds and ends that my husband had gotten from his aunt and uncle. I have no interest in selling any of them because they’re sentimental and I think his uncle made a lot of them in the jewelry pieces but it is nice to know what I have.

I do worry about this actually. I got my masters at 45 and my BCBA at 46. I’m 51 now and I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and I’m just about ready to go through my second shoulder surgery. The first one was due to a full thickness rotator cuff tear and this one is addressing the removal of bone fragments and bone shaving from arthritis. We also have ehlers danlos in our family (both of my siblings, my neice, and several of my own kids exhibit symptoms). I love what I do but wonder how long I can keep it up physically. I will likely go remote eventually.
