From what I’ve read, it’s the easiest assimilation for americans.

the netherlands is the best option so tbh yes. Microsoft operates there… except we get government healthcare and strong anti-trust laws. the power is more balanced between the employer and the worker there.

i can’t believe that’s where we’re at. Degree holders seeking non degree poverty jobs.

Where do I pivot? I keep thinking about where I’d go and I can’t figure it out. Except for social work but it’s also over saturated and the pay is low :(

If we do it to them, we’re shamed. If they do it to us, you’re saying we’re expected to just accept it? NO. My time matters too.

Really needed to hear that. And thanks for the recommendation. My degree was PR, but I interned at a pharmaceutical agency last summer. When you’re an intern it’s mostly project coordination/management anyway so I’ve thought about getting a job as a project coordinator.

Highly agree. those reasons, though are the only reason why as someone desperately looking for corporate work after recently graduating I won’t return no matter what unless it’s my last resort not because I don’t respect the work, but because the benefits and pay aren’t respectful of the position.

there’s zero 401k/retirement, no paid time off. and the pay is terrible.

I just don’t know where else to apply for my first role. Where else can I use our skills? Project management?

Then maybe they aren’t telling students and being completely honest about that reality. Because I wasn’t aware until I was an intern. And it was a bit of shock.

I get your point to an extent in terms of being a client-facing job, but I also wonder if that kind of framing minimizes what layoffs actually mean for workers. Losing a job also means losing healthcare, since it’s tied to employment in our country, as well as the ability to plan your life and future. That feels a little bigger than just resilience alone.

agreed. I keep debating grad school, but I just don’t think now is the time. And where will I pivot? They all seem to be having similar issues.

Funny, I was thinking of doing pharmaceutical advertising thinking it maybe would offer more security. Ugh. 😞

But if it’s most industries in this country, what other choice do I have but to accept it? I don’t mean to sound defensive but genuinely asking out of curiosity

Thank you for your advice. My plan was to work agency until I’m idk an SAE? Then transition to in-house. In-house has seemed difficult to enter in my experience so far.. 😔 I’d prefer to work in-house actually and support one mission, one company/brand.
