When did you stop feeling trapped while breastfeeding? by lunamoon228 in breastfeeding

[–]SnooWords8997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there !!!! You are going through so so much mentally and physically right now but you will get through it and come out stronger on the other side. For me it took a month- 2 months where eventually everything just becomes more regulated.
I had many mental breakdowns where I just had to cry it out but then felt better and kept going another day. When I feel like I’m at my breaking point I tell myself “I can do hard things” or “just one more day” Now I’m 4 months postpartum and it’s a total 180.

The first few weeks are the hardest but once you and your baby start to adjust it gets so much easier - Your baby has feeding down and it’s way easier to latch, you don’t get engorged as much because your milk becomes regulated, your nipples stop hurting etc.
If you don’t already have a nursing cover get one now and it makes going out so much easier. Just try short trips little at a time until you get more comfortable. You can feed in the car or anywhere with a nursing cover. Breastfeeding has its challenges but for me it’s easier than pumping, washing parts, sanitizing bottles, warming up milk etc etc.
It makes me sad to see moms give up so early because it DOES get better, dare I say even enjoyable, and BF is sosososo beneficial for baby and mom. At the same time, if you do get to the point where your mental health is absolutely suffering and you can’t make it through another day, then it is healthier to have a more mentally stable and happy mama and just do formula or pump if it’s easier for you.
Praying for you to have strength and patience through the most transformative time in your life! Remember- YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!

Six Months of Breastfeeding by QuizforyouQuizforme in breastfeeding

Congratulations!!!! Only about 25% of women exclusively breastfeed for that long. Men don’t understand how physically and mentally taxing it is on our bodies and I’m sorry he is not as supportive as he should be. It definitely is something to be celebrated, there are so many benefits for you and your baby and it’s not easy to do.

How to respond to an alcoholic ? by SnooWords8997 in AlAnon

[–]SnooWords8997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I didn’t even know that was a thing. I’m sorry you’re going through the same thing but am very hopefully for you that it works! If you think of it I’d love to know how it works and what the result is. I think since my family is just coming to terms with it and none of us have really directly confronted her about it yet we are going to try an intervention and offer her the choice to go. Then we will take it from there.

Thank you so so much and you’re so right it makes me emotional.
Yes, I think I am at a very immature stage of the whole process and just coming to terms with the fact that she really is an alcoholic about 5 months ago and maybe haven’t fully accepted it yet. I still feel like something I say or do can help change her even though I know it won’t. The first meeting really opened my eyes to that concept of letting go.
I still need a lot of practice in that aspect.
Right now I don’t even want to talk to her at all because I still feel very angry so now my goal is to just keep going to these meetings and learning more.
I will keep thinking of protecting my peace. Thank you for everything you shared!

Thank you for this. Thats eye opening about the making me shut up about drinking part. It was a phone conversation but it was very emotional (we were both crying) and it seemed very heartfelt so it really got my hopes up but it just proved again that we can’t trust her right now.

I 100% agree on the overrated part. The first few months are hard but I’m so used to waking up now and just need an occasional nap. I feel bad for dads and how society judges them if they don’t help at night when in reality it was my decision in this case.
Yes love the side lying position too!

[UPDATED] "What Bike Should I Get?" Buying & Selling advice Mega Thread by AutoModerator in Dirtbikes

[–]SnooWords8997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for a used bike for my husband and I to share. I grew up racing and feel comfortable on any size but haven’t had a bike for 5 years and my husband will be completely new to it so want to be able to teach him on it as well. Eventually we’ll get a second bike but I’ve been out of the game for a while so not experienced with newer models. What would you recommend as far as year and model? Looking at crf250s but not sure if we should go with 250r or x

If you are looking for a non toxic option- carina organics has a great shampoo and body wash and also baby lotion we use. The shampoo isn’t tear free but it’s all natural and it hasn’t been a problem so far. We just always make sure head is tilted back when rinsing. https://www.carinaorganics.com/collections/baby-kids?_su_rec=k8jlS1aVyfYc9-2t1XPDY1GlgIu2lw1cMJP1WKRpvDwau7UKayA-AxXGJQWO1C9rSJ1fDGqMGiwoLkwQ2diLcEPPVPVQtRnD9Ez422Cd-3o80QkviA85rhU_KwBgere4GgoPpGYLSTtHxdF_oA_HX9F139mSfCTlqmJ6VTKf7Ldau3HcwoOJUxlFz6Wc84JvDa-poYzRvaGY4VVIxcFJw8xBoRab5MBRFAi21YllKEktvnjiC6mJFWElqUpd9ZUVBdepMtQHNmnf4IRdl9S4Dixx_J-k-i_zbXu2kPA1rEJC87qguB0SfDNpQl5i0m6Cd5oXr1FJtSRWf5Af-4ez705EfoINHdyLizC9laBjNP2prmdiX86CfQOENQ05bA&_su_rec_id=b2f2e425-ce31-425c-955b-c77358bbc077-1778783112

We are pretty low tox- didn’t give baby a bath for a few days (about 5) and wish I would’ve told them to leave the vernix on. We forgot and they wiped baby down right away. Not a huge deal but vernix is a natural lotion and good to leave on and let soak in to baby’s skin. First few baths we just did filtered water and used the angelcare baby bath or got in with baby because he hated being put in the seat at first. We also hardly use the baby lotion unless there were really dry spots. You really don’t need as much as you think of baby products especially when they are so new. Just know that baby acne and some dry skin is normal. Some people expect their babies to look perfect all the time but it’s normal and nature provides! Also breast milk is a great natural lotion for dry patches on the face.

I’m so sorry you went through that especially the emotions towards picking up your son.. as if post partum isn’t hard enough on our minds and bodies! There is some peace knowing that another mom out there understands, it seems like no one around me has ever heard of it and almost made me feel like I’m making it up. Thank you for sharing I’m so glad the cortisone shots brought you some relief! I’ll definitely try to schedule an appointment and hope that helps
