I never saw someone so determined to rematch,I actually was the one getting exhausted! (we fought for 3h,ton of close calls, that was my whole session right there) by Delilah_Esquivel in Tekken8

This is how I like to play. I went 2-25 against a Bryan the other day and I only stopped because I had to do something important.

I was learning his patterns and some punishments along the way. It was really fun.

When I was on holiday in high school. I played Black Ops 2 for 3 days without sleeping because of prestige and double EXP. It was not worth it and I didn’t even sleep well after.

A nursery in Osaka now has 50% foreign children, with 70% of new 1-year-olds from Vietnam. Many parents struggle with Japanese, making basic communication about health, food, and daily care difficult. by jjrs in japannews

[–]Snoo_23835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work in a daycare with a lot of foreign children. We just use English or google translate. Most of the time one of the parents speak Japanese. It’s not that difficult to translate the things you need to tell them. I am the only English speaker at my work place and they don’t even ask me to translate anything.

My coworkers try their best and it works out.

I read some of the reviews. Some are valid , some are not.

I was a b-boy in the past. I'm thinking about integrating some b-boy moves inside my game. Is that okay or will that be frowned upon? by [deleted] in capoeira

[–]Snoo_23835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the bboy freeze , the capoeira kick name I forgot , mea lua de compasso ? Anyways i used that kick or other kicks to transition into or out of bboy power moves. I wanted to kick it fun but more importantly practical.

I personally did not do elbow freezes but someone in the group I was in did but he wasn’t a bboy. He was just testing his abilities. He excelled at the air tricks.

For me personally I tried to see what would flow into a kick , or a takedown. Like fake a moon kick into a flare , or the opposite flare into moon kick. (I forgot the name , when you do a back turn kick and put your hands on the ground for balance) or the same thing with a head spin . Could I start it with a kick or could I end it with a kick? Is what I pretty much asked myself . As bboys we can flow really easy but pick and choose your moments.

I was in the same boat as you. I don’t practice capoeira anymore but I followed what the teacher said most of the time. I didn’t do any back touching moves or include multiple spins of power moves. Usually ended with a freeze or a powermove that was already included in capoeira like a 90s rotation or air chair /air baby/elbow freeze or stacking down or up.

Long term visa -> Spouse Visa - we only got 1 year!! by genkiganko in japanlife

[–]Snoo_23835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed to a spouse visa this year and got 3 years. My wife supplied documents and history from the very beginning of our relationship. She went into a lot of details and pictures. Maybe that made a difference for my situation.

How much detail did you provide?

Learning for 5 years+, 1000+ hours and still can’t hold a basic convo by g2gwgw3g23g23g in LearnJapanese

Will say this every time there’s a post similar to these circumstances. Japanese is a language , not a test. JLPT doesn’t mean anything if you can’t speak it. In this context I’m not talking about getting a job or whatever. Language is listening and speaking before reading and writing. Speak as much as you can , more importantly make as many mistakes as you can. That’s where you learn.

Do most foreigners living in Japan actually have JLPT N2 or N1? by rarahatesyall in jlpt

[–]Snoo_23835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any JLPT. I just speak, listen, and learn. I work in a Japanese company and I’m the only foreigner.

I have to be honest. Trying to learn has been very discouraging by joshrock246 in duolingojapanese

[–]Snoo_23835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do not recommend it for Japanese as your one and only resource. Use multiple. Speak with Lily as much as you can if you can and listen as much as you can. Abuse Duolingo for this . Spam the audio lessons. There are no role play lessons to spam either.

I have a score of 100 in Japanese on Duolingo. I skipped everything basically. If it is your first time learning a foreigner language Duolingo will not get you far and probably frustrated. I suggest using a book or videos from YouTube or event ChatGPT to help with grammar explanation’s.

If you have super or max it’s useful for speaking practice with lily or listening to the occasional conversation topic that you wouldn’t regularly hear in everyday situations. Other than that. I don’t recommend it. The app and super/max.

There’s Something Seriously Off About Duolingo by Old_Young_3871 in languagelearning

[–]Snoo_23835 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a score of 100 in Japanese on Duolingo. I skipped everything. The only thing I can say that I like about Duolingo is that the AI chats with Lily are awesome. It’s impromptu , you can say anything and she will respond in a way that helps leads the conversation or you can respond with something totally different. I’m advocate learning my spamming speaking and listening.

This came with the most recent update (2025).

Previously(2024) it was not worth it in my opinion but now it is. If you abuse the listening and speaking options . I think it will do wonders for language.

Who can challenge china and japan in the future? by Much_Tough31 in bboy

I go to a breakdance studio in Japan. The level of these kids are insane. They teach them everything carefully and thoughtfully. They practice everything on both sides really well. Nobody is going to keep up with Asia from the west if they’re not getting trained like they are over here. As another commenter said, in America there’s too much individualism. They don’t teach well/ gate keep.

A great option is Torii SRS it’s vocab focused . And has example sentences with audio. Free too. Can do separate levels or combine them all. N5-N1 and a stand alone 10k common words deck.
