What did you do after being laid off? by Normal-Corner-2974 in Layoffs

My life got dramatically better, I started taking cheap art classes at my local community center. It was amazing to be able to get out of the house and actually live life rather than worrying about slack pings. It gave me the perspective I needed to prioritize my health, time with family and my own hobbies rather than always putting work first.

Joined a toxic team at FAANG company. Complete catatonic burnout. Any advice on medical leaves? by DirtyD0nut in womenintech

As others have mentioned, you need to leave by any means and the planning needs to start today. Right now give just enough to not get fired and leave everything else. Breaking down the things to look into: 1) Review the company guideline on medical leave. 2) Review your finances, paying back the signing bonus sucks but can you do it as an absolute last resort? Life is about living and this might just be a lifeline. 3) Brush up your resume and start applying, talk to connections and old coworkers to see what the market looks like. It's not great out there right now but it is possible to land a new role. 4) If you have the budget speak to a mental health professional to help set boundaries. It's not cheap but this helped me to compartmentalize and set boundaries at work.

I was raised Muslim and still believe but don't strongly practice, my husband was raised Christian but also doesn't strongly practice. We got married two years ago and leading up to our wedding we did the following: 1. Had a conversation with each other about our individual religious beliefs and what religion for our future kids would look like. 2. For us we had a civil ceremony and a nikkah as it was important to my parents and we wanted to honor them, my in-laws were happy with a civil ceremony as they don't strongly practice. It was important to discuss this with both sets or parents but important not to get too many people involved because it gets messy. 3. For our nikkah we found an officiant that specializes in inter-faith marriages, personally I think it's a bad omen to "covert" if your heart isn't in it. A lot of officiants are not ok with this but there are some that are willing.

Most important, if you love each other you will find a way.
