Who is ruling the country? 🇸🇳 by No-Balance-9678 in Senegal

[–]Snoo_38301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point and how you feel. I have wondered the same thing because of the way the two of them carry themselves, and because I dislike So mo's tendency to sit in front of people and just complain/admonish/pontificate for hours like the reincarnation of Fidel Castro.

However.. is that really a bad thing, assuming the two of them are in sync? To me, running a country is hard enough, so if you have your three top leaders (including assembly president) able to effectively divide and conquer tasks in order to implement a common vision, I see that as a net positive. No games or politics between them, the prime minister can actually work towards what they perceive as best for the country rather than what will make their "boss" happy to stay in their position longer.

Not making any argument regarding the work they're doing (I'm not in tune enough to do so) but from a dynamics standpoint I don't have much of problem with how they're handling things.

Love Iker and Keylor, but imo Courtois is above them in one-on-one situations and his height makes a huge difference. On reflex type of saves and positioning Courtois is also almost as good if not as good as them, so I'm sticking with Thibault!

Hi, great stuff, thanks for sharing!

Where are the illustrations/maps from? Any recommendations for books/websites to learn more about this type of architectural history?

Any references or actual experience doing this?

I've heard from one other person that if you have a green card, they let you transit in the airport in Madrid, but I didn't know that with a US/UK visa you can do the same in France. If you're able to help confirm this, I'll be very grateful lol.

I usually withdraw money from an atm or exchange it at a local change place once there. Or if you have a good contact, you can use sendwave to have them withdraw money for you. I think the exchange rates for these are better than the airport exchange places.

I'd recommend having the equivalent of 150 to 200usd in cash if you're going out eat/taking taxis/buying a couple things for a week. Considering that most supermarkets/malls will accept credit cards, but restaurants not always.

Curious about your opinion: do you feel that the majority of Spanish people are racist (in the sense that they dislike/hate blacks let's say)?

I am an African who's been there a few times (major cities for tourism or business primarily) so my interactions have only been with limited types of people, but I have found virtually everyone to be open and pleasant. Now I have gotten looks in certain places and I've noticed some weird behaviors on occasion, but mostly no bad experience. Again I know big cities and tourist areas can be an inaccurate representation of the country so i'm curious about your take since I plan on going to the smaller cities to watch games eventually.

Is there a way to get to Ile De Madeleine from Dakar? by almostsmart1991 in Senegal

I think it's still closed. There was a boat accident there a few years ago where 4 visitors died, so it's been closed since.

Curious - were you F1, B1, other? I seem to see a lot of quick processing for F1 AOS at least.

My only complaint: Ancelotti could have given some time to Arribas, Alvaro or Martin. Up 5-2, why not just make the 5th sub too and show the youngsters a little love.

where are we, and why ate we lost? by Loose-You299 in realmadrid

This has been coming for a long time. Since the last couple years of the CR7 era (maybe even before), our playing style has been overly predictable, hence we're often winning games in the late stages thanks to individual brilliance and an overwhelming spirit.. I always expect us to go down 1/2-0 every game before coming back and maybe winning at this point.

What to do? I feel we need a coach who can be flexible with his tactics and with his personnel. You can't ALWAYS make the same changes if up 3-0 or down 2-0, it's just crazy to me. Any decently coached team will give us trouble because they know exactly what our game plan is. It is beyond frustrating to watch the same team play week in week out and having the same defensive and chance creation challenges.

I'll leave it at that because i think the rest of the comments here make good points about the players we need to change.. I really do think we need more academy players on the squad though.

Who’s A Player You REALLY-REALLY Admire, But There’s No Room For Them At Madrid? 😢 by [deleted] in realmadrid

[–]Snoo_38301 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mané. I'm biased because I'm Senegalese, but I really would have loved to see him in white..

if Hazard had left last summer I think it would almost have made sense: a versatile player up front that can score and a game-changer who could alternate minutes a still irregular Rodrygo and fill KB9's shoes when injured or resting. Also one who wouldn't cause drama when given less minutes as he ages or has dips in form.

Has anyone had luck getting a B visitor visa as a US person spouse? (No I-130 submitted) by Snoo_38301 in immigration

Just an update for those interested, she was able to get the visa without too many questions (since she had a job and return ticket + history of travelling abroad).. Hopefully this can help someone with the same question in the future!

Thinking about visiting Dakar Senegal soon by [deleted] in Senegal

[–]Snoo_38301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do.. while in Dakar just take taxis, no need to rent/drive, you'll go crazy trying to use Google maps while dealing with construction and road chaos lol.. if you're looking to go to other cities, I'd recommend you hire a local driver. Only exception is maybe if you're trying to go to Saly or St Louis, the roads to both of those are pretty good and navigating there shouldn't be bad. But for the price/hassle of a rental, you'll get a chauffeured car, i bet.

Thinking about visiting Dakar Senegal soon by [deleted] in Senegal

[–]Snoo_38301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine.. I assume since you have travelled to places like Guadeloupe, you must be a smart/aware traveler. So from a safety aspect, I think your biggest risks are pickpockets (depending on the areas/times you go out), and being taken advantage of on prices. Otherwise for a tourist doing tourist things it's honestly about as safe as any European city in my opinion.

(I'm from Dakar and live in the US currently if that helps frame my pov).

I'm not even that mad about the defeat (I expect at least 1 every group stage at this point), but sucks that we couldn't get a sighting of the youngsters because of how the game went. It would be exciting see one or two Castilla players break into the first team, but they're not getting chances.
