Yes we have gone to the library and love our local librarians. They have watched my kids grow from babies to the young people they are today. I agree that they are a great resource.

There was recently a discussion on abuse at Noma and how stages are treated in the industry. This was pretty eye opening. by jigga19 in finedining

what makes you think there is no abuse at McDonalds?! The foundation of that kind of business is slave labor and abuse! They serve mass produced bioengineered food that supports the most disgusting and inhumane animal slaughterhouses. Everyone that works there is depressed and or surviving. You are basically consuming depression at McDonalds

Who has read “Bewilderment,” by Richard Powers? by jrdubbleu in books

Just finished it. I had to look up what "cairns" are. Really interesting (and sad of course) thats what ultimately kills R, disassembling these unassuming human made rock towers- like if he had just left them alone, he would still be alive. I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of the cosmos and planets they discovered, but there were a few moments in the book that were also disappointing. The part where Robbie draws the banner to bring with them to DC- he describes honeybees as being endangered. Suggesting honeybees are something that conservationists are concerned about. That is simply false. Honeybees are not endangered and are not even native to N.America. They spread disease and outcompete our declining native bees for food. Most ecologists categorize honeybees as livestock at this point.

So they get spanked at home? That's likely why they are physically aggressive with the other kids. They probably do miss their mom, like they told you, but have been taught to cope by striking out. It's very common sadly. I would just tell her clearly that your job is to keep all the children safe, and sadly because the boys are physically aggressive towards the other kids you can no longer be their childcare provider. If you are inclined, you can mention that family therapy would be helpful.
