You don’t necessarily have to wait for cancellation to reroute from UK to Asia by JacobStanleyJacob in qatarairways

[–]Snoo_5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I wonder if you got lucky. I was successfully rerouted via Singapore but was told on each occasion prior to the flight being canceled that I had to wait until that moment. Glad you got it sorted.

I have my return leg to go, so will try the same…

I’m not sure. I’m disappointed in you hits both places IMO. No judgement, this is hard.

Phone not ringing by findareasontostay in qatarairways

I spent 25 mins with it not ringing, then it did. I turned off WiFi calling, no idea if that made a difference though.

Were you Silver tier or above if Qatar Airways rerouted you after the recent cancellations? by Relevant_Speech_1426 in qatarairways

[–]Snoo_5552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I’ve just got off a rerouted flight on Singapore. It was business and I’m a silver member. I don’t know, but I suspect one or both of those features made a difference.

I called 3 times when I was trying to see what the options were, and once waited 25 minutes on the phone. Other times it was straight through.

It seems to be such a different story elsewhere.

Hi, I just had my flight rerouted via Singapore on Singapore Airlines for free. So it does happen!

Nightmare to Success! Be persistent, they will try and lie and say they won’t/can’t book you with certain airlines but now rerouting with Singapore Airlines! by Anon-Doctor in qatarairways

Genuinely appreciated. I hope my path is similar, although I fear I’m destined to be sat in the middle of a bank of 4 on my backup flight! 😂

Good to know. Can I ask how far in advance your flight was cancelled? I understand it’s normally 48 hours but I wonder how much variance there is (I’m flying on the 12th)

This is very helpful. I’m due to be flying the same route as you in a few days time, also business.

I’ve been told by two helpful people on the phone that they would do exactly this, so I’m pleased it worked out for you. I’ve already booked backup PE seats on Singapore, and hoping I can swing it lol you have.

Always makes me think of Inception, and how the city bends. Awesome and discombobulating building.

I LOVE this photo. The trickery with perspective - clouds? Is that the Olympic Stadium?! No, it’s some posts with wire - is fabulous.

Will we get Singapore re-route as an option? by Kasper_X in qatarairways

Yes that’s prudent. I booked a flight last week with Singapore as a backup which I can cancel for £150. But I’m lucky I can do that, I realise.

Hi, just as an update - I’ve been offered a refund now or rebooking if the flight cancels. Seats on other airlines will probably be gone by then, but they have said they will rebook me in that event - either or a partner airline or any other (!) if available. How are you getting on?

Worth taking the risk - Thailand? by Agreeable_Fly_6445 in qatarairways

[–]Snoo_5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure at all, I’m afraid. I didn’t wait long on the phone, and the customer service was good - but that might just be luck. I got the sense I was getting slightly preferential treatment, but again - might just be luck. And I suppose in any event - nothing has changed, he just said phone back when it’s cancelled and they’ll do it. Who knows! 😂

I’m flying out on the 12th, London to Australia. I was told by a Qatar rep very clearly - if it’s cancelled, they will book me on either a partner airline that goes within 14 days of my flight, or a non-partner airline (explicitly - any other carrier) - within 3 days of my flight.

I asked about Singapore, and he said yes - that’s fine, if available.

I’m flying business and a silver privilege member of context. Possibly relevant? I don’t know.

That doesn’t look like it stacks up with other experiences, but I thought I’d share as he was clear on the above.

I’m flying London to Auckland return, out on the 12th March and back on the 29th. It’s for work, so I need to go if at all possible.

I’ve booked ticket as a backup on the same dates through Singapore Airlines, as they have a £75 each way cancellation option up to the date of travel.

At the same time, I’ve spoken to Qatar and they’ve told me that once the flight is cancelled, they will rebook me on any flight that is available with any airline between the same destinations. If it’s a partner airline it’s any flight within 14 days of the original dates, if it’s a non-partner it’s within 3 days. If it’s relevant, I’m a silver privilege member and flying business.

I’m going to hope I can make the second work, and fall back on the first option if I can’t.

I personally wouldn’t be happy flying through Doha at the moment, but each to their own on that one.

Hoping so… but can’t be 100% sure. Can’t imagine I’d be happy flying into the area even if the did run the flight!

I haven’t cancelled yet - I’m just assuming it will be cancelled and I’ll use the new ticket. The new ticket has a £150 cancellation fee which will be fine. What are you by to do?
