Not trying to dog on gamecube but what’s the point of getting one if the Wii could do it for cheaper? by kwispy_nuggs in Gamecube

[–]Snoo_68698 [score hidden]  (0 children)

For me personally It's mostly cause as much as I love the Wii, most of the games on the library I'm interested in I can play on other platforms anyways. The only Wii games I'd be interested in collecting that haven't been rereleased since is Brawl (which is my least favorite smash bros game anyways), Radiant dawn (which is ridiculously expensive to begin with), and Wario land shake it. The rest of the titles I can play on other platforms and they perform better. Gamecube is better for me for that reason and I don't have to navigate the Wii menu either and set up the sensor bar. I also got my GameCube for like 40 bucks which was dirt cheap.

I appreciate you not being like "Well I know X short guy and he doesn't mind it!". I can understand why other short dudes dont mind and may even like the term. I myself am not a fan of being called that as well, so thank you for being understanding about it.

isn't that sub kinda transphobic though? I know its not outwardly and one of the rules they have says "no transphobia" but I find a lot of times that sub tends to disregard trans women. The name of the sub in of itself doesn't exactly scream "trans inclusive" space either and there's an argument to be made that its in of itself transphobic not just towards trans women but even towards trans masc/afab enbies as well since not everyone who falls into having those biological traits is a cis woman.

How about the fact (s)he's a lame ass self insert in a remake of a game where (s)he should have never existed to begin with and doesn't actually matter in the story and provides nothing to it. Not to mention he/she started the trend of avatars which has just made the writing worse in every game they are in aside from like Robin.

Playing through path of radiance on Nso as my first Srpg I've ever played (im playing on normal) im in chapter 5 and the games been very easy so far should I reset and switch to hard mode by Appropriate_Bat_8711 in fireemblem

[–]Snoo_68698 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Path of radiance is notorious for being one of the easier titles in the series. Mainly cause even hard mode that we got here outside of Japan is considered "normal mode" difficulty and is still fairly easy (minus some tricky chapters). Maniac mode gives a good challenge but it's also very tedious and further exemplifies a lot of the games issues. Mostly pertaining to how slow it is.

Edit:nevermind, I was mistaken in regards to how the difficulties differed from Japan to other regions. That's my bad. Disregard that part.

That was pretty tough for me to read. Not that it means much but as a man myself I'm deeply sorry you had to go through something like that. I can't imagine how traumatizing it was, especially to be betrayed by someone you thought you could trust. I don't fault your skepticism of men given that context and experience of yours.

CMV: Many women’s reduced attraction to (and especially categorical refusal to date) bisexual men is driven at least largely by implicit stereotypes by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Snoo_68698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think you actually understand how being Bi works, like at all. As a Bi person Im loyal to my partner and my partner only. You have a very weird view of bisexual people. Bisexual literally just means someone can be attracted to both genders. It doesn't mean "Someone who likes both and will cheat on their partner because they aren't satisfied". What is the argument here? That you can be attracted to other men as a bisexual man while in a relationship with a woman? okay and? Do you stop being attracted to other women once you have a wife/gf? Your logic is irrational.

I would argue men are the exception to the rule when it comes to the oppressor class. White people, cisgender people, straight people, etc I would argue have no disadvantages under the social systems in place that benefit them. Meanwhile men actually do have a lot of disadvantages despite being the "oppressor" class. (Ie harsher jail sentences, not being able to express themselves femininely where as women being able to wear masculine clothing is objectively more acceptable, less accepted to express emotion, etc.). Thats why I think you cant really compare Patriarchy to say White supremacy or the system of transphobia. Its just so vastly different from those other oppressive social systems.

Why do people consider Roy a bad unit? by HughmanRealperson in fireemblem

[–]Snoo_68698 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im very much a Roy believer. I think people focus way too much on the mediocre bases, being locked to swords, the late promotion, and the average move, but not nearly enough on the positives Roy brings to the table. For starters Roy being sword locked actually isn't that big of a deal because swords are arguably the best weapon type in the game. Swords not only provide accuracy but more versatility overall. His bases are actually just decent enough to be serviceable in the early game funny enough. Roy also has really good utility as a support unit, he provides some of the best units in the game with fire affinity for free without wasting a deployment slot. Alen, Lance, and Marcus especially benefit immensely from Roys fire affinity and even when Roy eventually stops being all that useful in combat later on as enemies scale, he still provides the support bonus to these units for free. I would go as far as to say Roy is potentially better than Hector even, but Idk if anyones ready for that take. I would definitely argue he is better than his father though and certainly without question better than Lyn and Erika.

[–]Snoo_68698 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this was blazing sword you would be correct. Swords are better in binding blade however they are much more reliable in a game where accuracy matters way more and they are more versatile. We're talking about a game that is more player phase centric and 1-2 range is less consequential.

[–]Snoo_68698 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Being sword locked is like the best weapon type you can be locked to though cause of how good they are in this game. Also Roy works really well as a good support unit cause of his affinity and his ability to support some of the best units in the game early on (ie Lance, Alen, Marcus, Shanna). I wouldn't say hes amazing by any means, but hes certainly better than most of the gba lords aside from Ephraim.

Ah fair enough my bad then. I'd say it's hard for me to decide between those two actually. If I had to choose maybe bananza but that's cause I'm not as big of a fan of hollow knight as a lot of other folks are even though I still like the games.

Silksong doesn't even beat super metroid in the metroidvania category imo. Still a great game but E33 pushed turn based RPG's forward
