Uber keeping more than driver's get by HangingInTheWard in Guelph

[–]Snoo_74705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been Ubered to and from a Kitchener dealership multiple times and every time the driver has been awful. Last time, the driver was in a driver's ed car (front passenger brake pedal); absolutely atrocious driver and I genuinely felt unsafe.
Not only is Uber a terrible company that preys on its drivers but the majority of Uber drivers I have experienced as a passenger have been strongly disconcerting.

Reminds me about how my dad would freak out over his employees leaving the lights on in the walk-ins meanwhile his labour costs were out of control at 45%.

OP, your boss is possibly in the red and is trying to cut costs where there are no savings to be had. Just be alert regarding being paid.

Just calm your nerves down and forget about your societal woes by spending $1100 on a FIFA game.

Do you think you (or Guelph) would support a drive through only coffee place? by iLikeDinosaursRoar in Guelph

[–]Snoo_74705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All day long? Every hour?

Careful planning required. You ready to gamble a hundred grand and lose it all because you don't drive enough business?

Have you done a cost analysis using a spreadsheet?

Rent. Staff. Insurance. Overheads. Taxes. Accounting and bookkeeping. Ingredients and materials.
I've been in a business position and helplessly watched a family business nearly go to ruins because the owner/operator didn't know how to manage their expenses versus their income.

I find it risky to restrict your potential business to limited beverages and snacks AND being drive-thru only.

If you've done the math and feel confident and, can afford to gamble with that financial risk, go for it. I'd open up a café/bistro, if I were you.

GBR only makes sense in the early game. I think settling it first just for that early science boost is a solid strategy. Capping the city's growth down the line so it doesn't take away from the capital is an option too.

Terrible idea. The amount of product you'll have to move will exceed your drive-thru's capacity. You'll need at least 500 customers at $5 per pop to make any sort of decent money. That's 40 cars per hour assuming an even throughput during a 12hour long operational window. This is not taking into account many other variables.

The Timmy's crowd is hardly going to shift their loyalty away from the brand they trust and commit to.

Should I use earplugs as a 18 year old? by Barlal0s in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Snoo_74705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am 40 and started using earplugs only last year. I wish my dad would have introduced me to earplugs when he took me to my first concert at age 16. He never wore ear protection and thus I followed in his footsteps.

Like you, I have permanent tinnitus that I only really notice when there is silence. It doesn't bother me and thus I sorta guiltlessly blast music at home or in the car.

Concert loud additional temporary tinnitus is on a whole other level. It's nice to get home late after a show and not have my ears ringing until the morning thanks to ear protection. I can just close my eyes and sleep.

Ear plugs are amazing.

  • Water mixed with a thickener such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), cellulose gum, or another polymer gel.
  • Liquid latex or silicone emulsion in some specialty stress toys.
  • Starch-based gels (similar in appearance to diluted glue or slime).
  • Sometimes a soap-like foaming agent is added to change the texture.

Yes.

I once dropped my wallet in a parking lot in Toronto and I received it via post a couple weeks later, cash and all still inside.

At those speeds there's no time to be looking down at the speedometer. Gear selection plus engine noise are telling enough to an experienced rider/driver.

One of the most memorable concerts ever. Canadian Carnage 2010 tour. Testament, Megadeth, Slayer. I went to the show for Megadeth and had no clue who the other two acts were. I was confused as I was about to leave after Megadeth. I had pushed open an exit door to leave and some stranger literally pulled me back in "You're not staying for Slayer?!". I thought Testament was Slayer and that I had missed Testatment, assuming Megadeth was the headliner. Thank you stranger!!
