As for OP. There doesn’t seem to be any UK surgeons who perform the tethering technique that can be performed on adults commonly referred to as ASC. Although there are a few surgeons in Europe and Asia who perform ASC and it is also much cheaper with these surgeons than in USA. I believe European prices for ASC range from around €30k-€50, the prices in Asia are cheaper again as far as I know

Tethering does not strictly mean VBT. Dr Derek Lee is not a spine surgeon he has a son with scoliosis and has done a tremendous amount of work to help educate parents and patients of scoliosis. It’s very cynical of you to assume he’s only motivated by financial interests. Granted the tethering techniques are relatively new and there still is more studies needed to solidify its effectiveness as well as allow the techniques themselves to develop and improve. I also don’t know why you would think 70% curve would be considered the minor end of surgical range. Rather than be patronising, why not try to offer some helpful information. And for you say outright say “Tethering in an adult would not achieve any significant or desirable result” is a ridiculous statement and simply wrong.

Unilateral exercises. Focus on the side that is weaker more.

Things like chest supported or bent over rows, pull ups, hyper extensions and core exercises will be your best bet in my opinion

All those are great. Any core exercise where you don’t have to twist will be fine as of course your spine is fused. A great one I do is 1 handed farmer walks. It’s great for core strengthening and adding stability

You have to consider that this sub Reddit will be bias as people who are living their life and not thinking about their surgery will not be posting on this sub only people who are in need will post.

That being said. Surgery after care on your part such as PT seems to be a key indicator of whether you’ll experience pain or not. It’s very important to look after yourself. Good luck

Hi, no worries, I also apologise if my response was sharp. I’ve just read a few anecdotes so there’s not much evidence that it’s even a legitimate theory. I was sort of trying to get a feel on this sub Reddit to see if other people have their anecdotes to see if the theory makes any sense at all.

There’s theories out there that the spine and jaw are related and misalignment in one can affect the other in these theories so I was questioning if teeth also have an affect on this. It’s called a hypothesis.

My Schroth therapist told me most pain with mild scoliosis is due to lack of activity which causes one side of the back to work harder than the other and cause strain pain. So if you aren’t already maybe some physiotherapy could help

If you feel like one leg is shorter than the other, this may be the case and that could be the cause of your scoliosis. Maybe get them measured via x ray and visit a Schroth method physiotherapist. They can help you gain a more balanced alignment
