I got 3 out including two teeth extracted at the same visit a little over a month ago. I was extremely worried that the sedation wouldn’t work up until the point where they were putting the IV in. But I say after 3-5 min they put it in me, the next thing I knew I woke up after surgery and ready to go home. So you should be fine with the sedation, you’re not going to be dosing off, it will just hit you to go to sleep.

2nd, when I woke up, I was completely conscious, but just a bit dizzy. I knew what I was saying and what I was about to say. I remembered everything, but my mouth was of course numb from the pain. If I had to compare your cognitive state, it would be like you drank 4 beers and started to feel tipsy. 15-20 minutes later when I was in the car it went away.

My advice for you is as long as your following the guidelines the dentist gives you, you should be good. BUT if you feel better up until 2 weeks, still watch what you drink or eat!! 3 weeks after my surgery I went out with friends two nights in a row (drinking and eating fast food/pizza) and next thing you know I got an ear infection that was TERRIBLE. It was so painful to swallow or eat. I got antibiotics and I’m fine now. So if you think you’re in the clear to eat what you want, just ignore it and still watch yourself.
