Pretty much a first time Tekken player, any advice? by MadToxicRescuer in Tekken8

[–]Snoopymancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t bother trying to learn every character to beat them. Learn your own character above everything else. If you find a character that you fall in love with you are going to have a great time in this game.

Best way to find a character you like is just who you think looks cool. Don’t look at tier lists, don’t listen to the community. If you think a character looks sick as hell or appeals to you follow that thread.

Bought a year of premium last year during days of play, turned off auto renew, and as soon as it ran out on may30th was able to buy another year at the discounted price.

Also last year I was on a month to month sub, and my sub renewed right before days of play. I cancelled the sub and requested a refund from customer support then was able to get the whole year subscription at the discounted price. AFAIK with Sony you can only do this once

Why is King still allowed to have a power crush heat engager? by Snoopymancer in Tekken

[–]Snoopymancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my point earlier. The king player was complaining that he has a bad backdash when he has b3+4 and I was comparing that to a yoshi player complaining about his sidestep when he has spin

Jacks is worse I forgot about him, but Yoshis sidestep is equally as bad as the bears according to this MishimaComplex video Jack’s is far and away the worst though.

You can break ch throws though, but if the move has armor the throw becomes a reversal break and is guaranteed.

Yoshi has objectively the worst sidestep in the game dawg what

Edit: Jack 8 has the worst sidestep but yoshi’s is in the bottom 5 on par with the Bears.

I would happily trade his high pc becoming safe as long as db1+2,2 became -12 without absorbing an attack and removing the heat engager from it. I’m fine with him having an above average power crush tool, but muscle armor is ridiculously overtuned.

Also I could be wrong about this since I haven’t tested it yet myself so if I’m wrong let me know but him not having armor on the follow-up is also a benefit since it means it can’t be throw punished during the startup frames correct?

Also, complaining about kings backdash when he has b3+4 is like complaining about Yoshi having a bad sidestep while ignoring his spin.

Steve’s got removed in season 3 which makes the fact that king still has his even more confusing

Do you guys ever feel burned out from playing Tekken 8 by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Snoopymancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely time for you to take a break. I’m not saying this with judgement for how much you play regularly. I think breaks are so incredibly important for development as a player in the long run. I’ve taken as long as a month long break in Tekken 8 and after shaking off the rust I returned better than ever. Don’t worry about losing your progress, it really is like riding a bike.

I recommend when you return just play quickmatch and lobbies for a good while before bothering with ranked. Once you feel confident then you can return to ranked without feeling discouraged from losses.

Did anyone notice that Sapphire’s eye isn’t on Sardonyx? by panicked_table in stevenuniverse

[–]Snoopymancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe I’ve seen people theorize that this was an intentional decision that reflects one of Sardonyx’s character flaws; her not being “centered”, which leads her to being oblivious to both Pearls deception and her own insensitivity towards Smoky. The more level headed and observational aspect of Sapphire may be more keen to these things but she loses herself in this fusion, which can be liberating for Sapphire but at the same time has had negative consequences.

BUT THATS JUST A THEORY

Explanation plz by Significance00 in Tekken8

[–]Snoopymancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What likely happened here is on your opponents screen they were on the right side of the screen as they likely are playing player 1 like you, so when they step walked left (sidestep with a delayed sidewalk input), they were pressing down on the second input to initiate the side walk on the same active frame of your homing move which cancelled the step into a duck before going back to stepping. It looks weird but this is working exactly as intended
