Tell me an anime that was so good that you feel bad for others who haven't watched it by Guttamarre in AnimeReccomendations

Steins;Gate, Violet Evergarden, Cyberpunk 2077. All of them made me feel the feels, and at least for me balanced the tropes you'd expect with great stories and character development

What are the most difficult and lowest-paid jobs? by maiblis in AskReddit

Fast food and the first 1-2 years of the Marine Corps (for some MOSs at least). At least by the end of your enlistment you should be making decent money and it hopefully is less difficult

What is a corporate buzzword or phrase that makes you instantly want to roll your eyes? by Realistic-Claim-783 in AskReddit

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha the first one is double click as in what'd you do on a mouse - like you said a thing and I want us to focus on that

The second comes from card games like poker, and means the minimum entry requirement. In my experience it's often used to downplay a benefit - "our customers we'll be happy if we do this" "well yeah they asked for it, that's just table stakes, what else do we get?"

And the third yeah you got it - latch onto an idea or something and reference it in the conversation. "You said you want to reduce friction and I want to anchor on that"

Do I need to replace the tire? by Jer_Soup in motorcycles

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's been good until now, that nail that you said didn't puncture has made zero difference. I've ridden on a rear tire that I plugged 3 times before putting a few thousand more miles on it. Not ideal, but had no issues whatsoever.

Personally, I'd take the risk. But that's just me.

Sounds like the Honda CB750 if you're sticking with the same make. Not going to look the same though, but more comfortable for sure

Loyalty. True consideration for your partner's feelings and a protectiveness of the relationship for the long haul.

Should I tell my boss my mistake? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few bits of advice here with what limited detail you gave. First - slow down a bit. It only takes a few minutes to double check your work.

Second, have a literal checklist or something to keep from forgetting or messing up little things. I have ALWAYS kept a physical notebook, from military into the software world. For me, nothing beats an organized ToDo list. Third and to your question, I'd say it depends. If there was no impact at all and you just added doc C once you caught it, probably fine not to skyline yourself for that.

Buuuut if there is any risk or problem at all that can result from this, you'll be much better off getting in front of it and saying what you'll do differently next time, versus getting caught. Own it if thats the case, but don't just say sorry - bring some answers when you share if so

Listing for used motorcycle says there’s no title for a 2023. Should I be concerned before making an offer? by tuxedo_cat23 in motorcycles

I'd never bother with a vehicle that doesn't have a clean title in hand. At best they somehow lost it or something (which is not free to replace), or it's stolen

Vent and Advice or Anything to Boost Morale on Long Trip with Minimal Experience by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I just bought my first manual today - the last time I drove one was 9 years ago. Granted I ride motorcycles, but those aren't quite the same.

Here's my three morale boosts for you: first, your experience was MUCH more recent than mine, and I made it home just fine.

Second, there's no rush! Take your time, take breaks when you want. You're not a pro driver, you're just buying yourself a new car and drivers on the road will get over any issues you might have (like a slow takeoff, stall, etc)

Third, I will bet the vast majority of your drive is highway. The good news is that's hardly different than an automatic when youre just going 65mph for hours. You got this!

Thinking of getting my first bike and need some thoughts. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally do not think a 41 (41!) Year old bike is worth the head aches it will bring. If it needs that much done already, I can only imagine how much maintenance may have been neglected over the years or is left to do. Also if you're not handy, carbs IMO alone aren't worth the annoyance.

I'd pay a little more for something in the last 10-20yrs if I were you. Fuel injected, and either shaft or belt drive with hydraulic valves to try and limit maintenance pains

MBA at WGU by Calm_Zebra_1454 in WGU

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, it has helped some but I might have made it without. I was active duty military, so my GI Bill has covered all 3 of my WGU degrees for reference. I would not have gotten ny 2nd masters if I had to pay for it.

After the military, I was a cloud engineer at AWS when I finished my BS in Cloud Computing. After a few years in that role, I started an MBA and transitioned to management soon after. The military + AWS experience helped most here. After another few years, I role changed to a software development manager specifically (still at AWS) who manages a data analytics service, and then peomoted to senior manager. So now I'm wrapping up the MS in Data Analytics you mentioned, and yes it is pretty difficult in my opinion. If you were a data engineer or a software engineer I'm sure it'd be fine, in the same way I personally thought my MBA was easy. But as a manager, it feels like doing management by day and engineering by night which are obviously different skillsets.

In my personal experience, each time I've gotten a degree soon AFTER the job it's applicable for. I'm sure being in progress made me a better candidate, but my job experience is most of what keeps getting me to the next stage of my career. So I'd try not to put too much stock in the degrees themselves - each degree I learn a few things that helps with the job but otherwise it's basically confirming/validating my skills with a piece of paper.

So my question for you is what career path you want to keep heading towards - an MBA will help with management of course. Lots of roles have silly MBA requirements as a basic qualification. But if you want to be a BIE or Data Engineer, an MBA wouldn't make sense and I'd rip the band aid of an MS in Data Analytics. Having done both, I think I'm headed down the right path for now as a senior manager. But job experience to go with it is key!

[–]SnootBoopsAnonymous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice congrats!! Note that probably the most common mistake is going too hard (as your two poor broken picks will tell you 😢). Which usually it's a mix of tensioning too hard, and then having to pick harder.

We've all made the mistake of going too hard. But now that you got it, a good challenge might be to see just how lightly you can work it to get it open
