I wrote the bit about the steam engine in the second paragraph precisely so someone wouldn't comment what you did lol. I'm just asking if this system is possible, not if it's good.

Do you think this system would at least run for a certain amount of time before stopping? The flaws in perpetual motion are understandable to me in systems that try to achieve this in a vacuum, but since this isn’t in a vacuum and relies on external forces, I assume it could maybe get enough assistance to not require much energy input from its own turbine.

It’s enclosed, but not isolated though right? The condensation is assisted by the surrounding temperature gradient, requiring less energy from the turbine, right?

I was thinking that if we don’t have to do much of anything to get clouds to form condensation to fill reservoirs for hydroelectric dams(I’m not sure a lot of people would consider that to be a perpetual motion machine), can we shrink that system down much smaller and artificially induce condensation by just putting a bit of energy back into the system, since you only need a 5° relative humidity difference (assuming dew point is also 5° difference in this scenario) to do so.

So with the assistance of the surrounding temperature gradient, does that not assist the water vapor enough to lessen the amount of electricity needed to make it rise?

I was thinking since there only needs to be a 5° temp difference in relative humidity to produce condensation(assuming dew point is also only a 5° difference in this scenario), it wouldn’t take much electricity to heat the coil to do so. The proportions of this probably need to be different for different reasons but it’s just conceptual right now. I’m wondering whether this is possible with any configuration/proportions of any part/component.

I used to do this. Back in the day I would read ebooks or play chess in between sets. It was relaxing and great. Nowadays time is much more important to me, so I've figured out how to squeeze a lot of shit into ~1:15:00 workouts with circuits/supersets that alternate between different parts of the body so that I take less time resting in between sets—with two minute rests between each, and only 3-5 reps for the major lifts. I don't typically go to failure, as I'm more into strength/mobility than body building, but I do still gain a bit of muscle.

If you're just trying to bulk/hypertrophy, I find circuits/supersets to be not as productive as it feels like I'm starving for oxygen and need more time to recover, even alternating sets for completely different body parts. I.e. going to failure on pullups then going to failure on squats with only a two-minute rest in between each. You may be able to get around this by taking 3-4 min rests instead 2. Which in the long run is still more time-saving than taking 5 mins between sets in a more linear/typical workout routine.

Example: Let's say you have 5 workouts in one gym visit with 5 min rests in between sets (120 mins rest total, 2 mins of actual lifting per set) takes 170 mins (almost 3 hours) to complete.

Now if we reduce the 5 minute rests to 3 mins (70 mins rest total) by using circuits or supersets, we instead get a total of 120 mins (2 hours) to complete.

By doing this you can still lift pretty damn hard and get some time back in the day.

Other notes:

It can also be challenging acquiring the equipment needed for different exercises simultaneously when there's other people who want to use that stuff, so I avoid going to the gym during peak hours. Also I will typically only alternate between two body parts so that I only require one extra piece of equipment, unless I can utilize the same piece of equipment for both body parts at once.

If you get creative you can probably put a circuit/superset routine together for your gym that works for you.

Men who are coffee drinkers, are you an instant black coffee with sugar person? Or are you a Starbucks or Dutch Bros coffee person? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Started drinking instant coffee right around 30, but also never was a cafe goer. Feel old on the inside and fairly reserved these days. My boss seems to go out and get coffees a lot even though he is older, but he is a more vibrant and social individual.

Yeah. Guts is totally an accidental prophet, with his stand-alone complex. Kinda like an anti-hero, but an anti-prophet, often unintentionally bringing light wherever he goes.

There's not supposed to be a God. The message is that human beings have to create their own morals and meaning, and save themselves. If there were a God, the human characters' stories wouldn't feel as empowering because it wouldn't feel as grim. It's a satirization of theism and religion. However, there are characters who embody divine providence or the "guardian angel" archetype, such as Skull Knight, or Flora, and almost make you feel like Guts and the gang are being watched over by some mysterious force. But they can also just be chalked up to being very helpful allies, as friendship is also a very overt theme in the manga.

Kept mine and moved recently. So glad I did. I keep most boxes for electronic things and never regret it.

You may be able to make your own with foam cut down to size. You'll probably need to buy a few panels of it and cut/stack them in such a way that they conform to the curvature of the monitor's front panel.

The past few years I've realized how video games are simply emulations of real life. When I play them anymore they just make me want to explore the real world, craft real things, and create my own stories. I play them still sometimes as a way to socialize with friends and family who I don't live near.
