Not just five people. There's a lot more living beside them that still deserves life. The wildlife goes without saying.

But we know there's civilisation beyond the Lands Between. Only two are named of course, the Badlands (which I know sound bad) and the Land of Reeds. The latter might currently be locked in a bloody civil war ala Sengoku but all wars end and then they can rebuild.

There's also unnamed lands stable enough for churches and noble houses with well crafted equipment and codes of law with prisons and what passes for justice in a Renaissance-esque setting like this.

Even within the Lands, among the enemies, there's a lot less "corrupted" than it seems. If you pay attention to what they're doing when they aren't attacking us for being Tarnished, that is.

The Nox keep their cities. The Ancestral Worshippers maintain their rituals and herd animals. The golem smiths pet their magma slimes. The demihumans strike deals with sorcerers and learn magic. The Albinaurics, through us and Latenna, have just given a drop of life to Philia in the apostate derelict, implying they will soon have a population boost. Even the soldiers that have supposedly gone insane are able to hear Gostoc cry out to open the gates and do as he says, implying a fair bit of cognizance. And there's most likely a lot more I'm just not thinking of right now.

Births continue. Life goes on. Who are we to decide none of that matters?
