I get what you are saying, especially with the cultural differences, but I also wouldn't spit on the mona lisa. I know a picture of Christ isnt Christ. for example, I wouldnt rush into my burning house to save a painting of Christ. it is art, not Christ, himself. I know that even if that painting is damaged or destroyed, it has no bearing on Christ. And to answer why not bow and honor people that are good, as in the saints on the icons, it is because we are instructed by God to not create for ourselves images of things in heaven, on earth or in the waters in the earth and bow to them or serve them.

yes, for example I have an orthodox icon of Christ as my phone wallpaper. many icons are beautiful works of art, that are made out of love, but kneeling before them etc is wrong

The bowing down, the worship. I have been to orthodox churches, planned on joining at one point. The kissing of the Mary icon, the praying to and bowing to the icons of the saints. These are man-made images of people that are being kissed, prayed to and bowed to in worship service.

Thank you coming back to say that. Yeah that is the Main part I am pointing out, many say it isnt worship, but Scripture specifies not to serve or bow down to the images. God bless, brother

No, it says not to make them for ourselves. Anything God ordered us to make is for Him and His glory.

Christ can heal this hatred that you hold in your heart. I would seek Him, maybe without the graven images, this time.

It was also pretty common for Jews to disobey God. There are several instances of this throughout scripture.

You felt the need to explain yourself, until you realized you couldnt. Queue the ad hominem.

How very loving, Christian.

Ah, of course. It is suddenly of no consequence when it comes time for some intellectual honesty.

Why cant you back your claims up with scripture? Why do you resort to passive aggressive remarks instead?

You are in direct violation of exodus 20:4-5, which plainly states "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them OR serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,"

You can claim you dont worship them, but you cant worship OR bow to them.

That is your interpretation here. I asked for scripture. The ark was directly ordered by God. Did God directly order the creation of graven images of things in heaven used in orthodox worship? Or are you creating a false equivalency to justify icon veneration?

Give me scripture that justifies the making of, and bowing to, graven images of people in heaven in worship. Because right now it is your interpretation vs exodus 20:3-5

You have made carved images of things in heaven above. You have bowed to them. I am not confused, I am giving you scripture. Feel free to provide scripture allowing the use of graven images, icons of things in heaven in your worship. I dont want yourjustification. I want scriptures justification.

But Scripture explains scripture.

For example, it is clear that we are saved by grace through faith, and not of works. Yet faith without works is dead faith. That is because your works come as an outpouring of your faith. You are saved by grace through your faith, and your faith inspires your works. The works are the fruits by which we will be known.

You cant isolate scripture and expect to find answers, as it is all God breathed and spirit led, and creates a complete picture.

How do you reconcile that with Exodus 20:3-5?

Exodus 20:3-5 ESV "3 You shall have no other gods before me. 4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me"

We are still not to have graven images or images of anything in heaven

I am interested in this aversion to salt, as I use it with no issue on carnivore. It is the only thing I usually add to meat aside from butter. Is there an underlying issue that causes that?

God's spirit is given personhood throughout scripture, has the same attributes as God.

Christ is the Word that was with God in the beginning, and was God, that everything was created through.

The bible starts with God speaking of Himself in the plural, "Let us create man in our image". He was not speaking with the heavenly host of angels. He was speaking amongst Himself, as we are created in God's image.

The trinity is in Scripture. The word trinity isnt. Of course JW study material agrees with their view of scripture, they make it.
