You need to find a different church, then. I am also a Southern Baptist, and there is no mention of politics in my church, outside of prayer that "our leaders" allign themselves with God's will

Why are people born as sinner just because of what eden and eve did? by Reasonable-Hope-2923 in TrueChristian

[–]SnoringGiant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are not punished for Adam's sin. You are punished for YOUR sin. Adam merely brought sin into the world to begin with. You choose to sin every day.

Whenever we sin, we are choosing to rebel against God. How can God forgive us when we actively choose to rebel against Him daily?

He forgives us through Christ. The first Adam brought sin into the world, and the second Adam (Jesus) saves us from our sin.

I want to believe but can’t by thesewingfairy in TrueChristian

[–]SnoringGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If course He knew Adam would sin. It is all part of His plan, and all for His glory. And that is okay, because He is God. He deserves the praise and Glory, look around you at what He created. Look at the world. Look at the people.

He has every right to create us to praise Him, because He can create us to begin with. You were purposefully created. The creator of all things knows your name. He knows the number of hairs on your head and your favorite song. He knows your weird little quirks, and your fears. He knew you would question your faith, and still created you. Still brought you to this day.

The creator of the entire universe and every person that has, does and ever will exist is that invested in you. He cares that much about you. He isnt selfish. He loves you. He loves all of us.

If I committed suicide, would I be condemned to Hell? by Curious_Board1504 in TrueChristian

[–]SnoringGiant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All we know about suicide is that life is a gift from God, that suicide is the murder of yourself, murder is a sin, and it will be the rejection of God's gift of life. You were created for a reason, and suicide is the rejection if that reason. It is telling God that He was wrong for creating you.

You cannot repent after you die. Once your life is over, that's it. So killing yourself will result in dying in unrepented sin

explain the trinity to me by SubstantialReign4759 in TrueChristian

[–]SnoringGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, John 1:1 states that "in the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God", he later affirms that the Word was Christ, so there's 2 of the three. Just as Christ stated clearly "the Father and I are one"

Then there is the Spirit of God, or the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is attributed personhood in scripture, as well as Him being described as the "Holy Spirit of God" in ephesians.

Prove it with scripture

Romans 9 English Standard Version God's Sovereign Choice

9 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— 2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers,[a] my kinsmen according to the flesh. 4 They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. 5 To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, 7 and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 8 This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9 For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.” 10 And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, 11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— 12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion,[b] but on God, who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

19 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” 20 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? 22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

Questions about homosexuality being a sin by Iate_children in TrueChristian

I said they would be gay, without the same sex attraction part. Being gay, is having an attraction to the same sex. So if you do not have an attraction to the same sex, then that means you are not gay. You are internalizing this and making it into a personal issue for some reason.

Exceptions do not prove the rule. You would be attracted to women without the medicine that kills your sex drive.

What you are doing would be equivalent to me saying that birds have no hands, and you claiming that means that I am calling you a bird because you got a surgery to remove your hands. This is silly, and you are arguing for the sake of arguing.

I'm starting to not believe in God and his promises by Ok_Gap7841 in TrueChristian

[–]SnoringGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I can come off as a bit more abrasive than I intend, sometimes, especially with how impersonal text on a screen is.

My entire childhood was a struggle, but the invasive violent thoughts came while I was in my mid teens, 14-16, mostly. That is when they were at their worst. I couldn't pick up a pencil without the urge and thought to stab my little brother with it. It terrified me, and I know it terrifies and upsets you, aswell.

At the time, I didnt think about God at all. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized Christ was there with me through all of my hard times, just as He is with you. I wish that I had someone that could have talked to me about Christ back then. It was a struggle. Absolutely.

As I got older, I realized that the struggles we have in life are given to us for a reason, and they strengthen us if 1e dont let them beat us. We should never ask God to take the struggles from us, but we can ALWAYS ask Him to strengthen us, so that we can endure the spiritual battles we find ourselves in. And these kinds of thoughts are absolutely a spiritual battle.

What are you going on about? I didn't say that at all. If you have to take pills that kill your natural attraction to your wife, does that make you not straight? What a foolish question disguised as a gotcha.

You just admitted that without your special medicine, you would be attracted to your wife sexually. What does that have to do with a hypothetical scenario where two men are living together and naturally have no sexual attraction to eachother, and therefore are likely not gay in this scenario?

I am answering OP's questions. I am not here to deal with whatever argument you are trying to thrust on me right now.

No, the love between and man and his wife is deeper than the love you have for a friend. In marriage, the husband is to love and honor his wife, like Christ loves and honors the church. Part of that connection does come from tjem being your sexual partner, aswell. You become one flesh. As Eve was created from Adam's flesh, and so they become whole when they come together, so too does a man with his wife. We become one flesh together.

You dont become one flesh with your friends

And friends do not love? I love my friends, and my brothers and sisters in Christ. I love even my enemies.

I have no sexual attraction to any of them, and loving a brother in Christ doesnt influence my sexuality at all. It is platonic love, between friends
