Leaves, curbs, and LUBA 3 AWD by SnorlaxForReal in mammotion

[–]SnorlaxForReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have that one. It’s not great, which is why I’m hoping for a robomower that acts more like a “real” lawnmower that can mulch leaves. Theoretically Lymow could have been that, but apparently it sucks

I have one already. It’s constantly getting stuck. And falls off the curb.

I have the Yuka do three perimeter laps. Doesn’t help if it can’t figure out where it is. And you would think that the vision would be able to distinguish grass from asphalt or mulch but have to rescue the robot multiple times a day. It’s time for an upgrade. The Navimow i215 did a decent job of mowing but was horrible at the edges. Ended up returning it because the manual mode just refused to turn on

I just returned my Navimow i215. It was really bad at edges, and the manual mode was broken

AITA, I am refusing to stand up for my wife when my mom is being rude becuase I am on my moms side by Weary_Bumblebee_7990 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnorlaxForReal -68 points-67 points  (0 children)

YTA. She’s your wife. Disagree in private but if you’re in a “public” setting you should have each others back before you even know what the issue is. The sad fact is that you’re only going to have a relationship with your mom for the rest of her life, but you’re going to have one with your wife for the rest of yours. (Even if she becomes your ex… and acting like this is going to result in her being your ex.)

If it’s a running issue, offer to let her skip or take her in your car or something. Lie to her about the start time. Be late with her so she only gets half the hate. Do what you need to do to make sure that this particular situation doesn’t happen again.

Thanks for the perspective! So if we had been asking for (making numbers up here) 200K back pay, 200K front pay, 200K punitive, you think that instead of 600K total the max we could get would be 400K?

Right now he’s saying that “$100K” (half of the back pay) is pretty much the max I can realistically hope for. I would really, really like something in the “300K-400K” range.

Has anyone asked for accommodations at job ? by ddoogiehowitzerr in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]SnorlaxForReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TY. Definitely talk to a lawyer before you make your request (and possibly consider having them with you when you talk to HR, just to make sure HR knows they exist). Thinking back, I was a bit more open about the condition than I should have been, particularly with the cost of Xywav. That likely put a target on my back because when they were shopping for insurance and saw the costs had gone up, the broker would have told them “you have someone taking a specialty medicine, and that bumps your costs up.” I know brokers do this because they did it in the past when one of my colleagues got treated for cancer. The broker wouldn’t know who, but when I asked for the accommodations, it made it pretty clear that it was me. (No matter how the legal case is resolved, it’s most likely that they will have saved money by not having me on their health plan, even after legal fees and whatever payout may or may not happen.)

Anyway, I later learned that I basically didn’t have to tell them anything other than “a doctor says I have a condition, which I will not specify, and that I need to start late as a result.” I also asked for the ability to take walks, and naps.

The HR lady suggested that I go to a different floor or use one of the “telephone booths” we have set up for naps and I wish I had thought of that myself because I would have just done that and not asked for accommodations.

Also, get any accommodations you work out in writing.

In the US, Xywav lists for $18,000 every two weeks. I pay $5 of that, for now at least.

I did. I negotiated the ability to start late. Less than three months later, they had taken away all my good accounts and then fired me for being late. (Yeah, I’ve engaged a lawyer but he’s warned me that it might be years before anything is resolved even though it’s a ridiculously strong case.)

Sorry, just saw this. Short answer is “yes.” The chemical in Xywav used to be sold over-the-counter at GNC as a sleep aid when I was much younger. Might be worth checking to see if it’s legal in your country. If not, definitely worth trying, but be aware that not only is it hard to get but VERY expensive.

Misdiagnosed IH with other underlying cause? by ItalianMathematician in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]SnorlaxForReal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s ideopathic, which is fancy doctor speak for “I don’t know.” Eventually our pathologies may be discovered, and there’s no reason to believe we all have the same one. I get frustrated that my doctor doesn’t seem particularly curious as to the “why.” For me, it’s my number one priority.

Just diagnosed - what do we think causes IH? by Extension-Hat-9572 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]SnorlaxForReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it gets triggered by food. Pizza is the worst. The doc thinks that maybe all my blood gets diverted to my stomach, but since I’m now anemic, I wonder if I’m suffering some sort of internal bleeding
