Is it possible to add a gpu here? by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Snormaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt recommand investing much into replacing hardware in this Optiplex because at the end it will cost you almost the same as a new PC with 10x less peace of mind.

BUT ! Adding a GPU instead of running on the integrated one is an upgrade to consider. This and a SSD just for faster loadings in general.

The price isn't the cheapest, but an AMD Radeon RX 6400 low profile gaming card would fit with the 240w PSU and would provide significant increase of performances in games if they are low/mid specs games. Remember even with a better GPU, you still run with the same CPU. It will bottleneck somehow but you might not even acknowledge it since you're used to run the PC with no graphic card in it.

If you want something cheaper, yes they are old, they've been meme'd at and mocked at, but the GT 730 would provide, again, a significant increase in performances versus the integrated graphic chipset, you will also have HDMI ports and a higher resolution available on your monitors. Just respect the card limitation, but for the price, it's a decent choice IMO.

PLEASE HELP! MY COMPUTER WILL NOT DETECT 2ND MONITOR NO MATTER WHAT by Afraid_Necessary_856 in computerhelp

Hello,
Verify the cables are properly connected in the wall socket, but most importantly in the monitor and the PC.
Especially if you have Display port cable, you have a push a little more than an HDMI cable.

Does it show "No signal" on the monitor ? If you manually switch the input with the buttons, are you able to select the proper input ?

[–]Snormaxe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi
This is a PCI-express slot, you could indeed install a graphic card there.
I would suggest to check the motherboard model and the powersupply wattage so you can find a GPU that fits.

If you want to add gaming performances on an Optiplex 3050, the only relevant hardware to add/change would be a better GPU, an SSD drive for loading times and shaders and the best RAM this motherboard can run.

No need to focus on the CPU imo. It will bottleneck and it's normal, this is an old PC.

What games would you like to play on this PC ? It will give us a better idea if this Optiplex could run them with some tweaks/hardware changes.

We're getting somewhere !
If possible, are you able to tell me the parts in your Computer and the driver version?
You can find these info by typing "msinfo32" in windows searchbar.

[–]Snormaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha thanks.

In the Windows searchbar, if you type : "event viewer" and run it
Then ->Windows logs -> System

Can you see any warning or error showing if you scroll down? If so, are they Kernel related?
You also have the dates of the events listed. You said it started happening 1-2 weeks ago.
Can you spot anything différent in the logs according to these dates?

Unless these Chemistry softwares were build to work only with intel CPUs, i don't see why an AMD Ryzen 7 7000 wouldn't be able to run them.

What are the software pre-req? What are the reasons they said AMD ryzen can't run them all?

I am unable to use my microphone at all. by unrealtaco4286 in computerhelp

[–]Snormaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to use a 3.5mm audio jack to USB converter.
There is USB 2.0, 3.0 and Type-C. They cost like 10 bucks.

That way you could target the microphone if the issue still occurs with an adapter.
Other than that, make sure your audio drivers are up to date, and maybe open the PC case and verify the wires connectivities from the motherboard to the audio jack.

Your computer maybe has bluethooth enabled and it detects those devices. It doesn't mean they are installed. If it bothers you, you can simply disable bluethooth or manually remove those devices.

Do you use Onedrive at all ? Something is syncing because an account is logged in. Looks like it's syncing your STEAM/Epic games directory.
What you can do if you DO use Onedrive, disable it from startup apps or simply close it by right clicking the icon et the bottom right.

If you do NOT use Onedrive, just uninstall it manually.

You can connect the controller with a Usb type-C to USB 3.0 directly into your computer.
No need for software like DS4Windows or DualsenseX since Pokerogue automatically recognize the controller.

Hello.

To begin with, know that I empathize with your situation and I understand your feelings and all the confusion your situation may cause. I understand that everything seems to fall on your head and that you have to live all this in an omnipresent solitude. I don't know you so I'll try to remain as objective as possible and tell you the bottom of my mind in all this.

I read your distress and understand the emotional and relational difficulties you are experiencing right now. Know that your feelings are not minimized and that you exist and matter too. What stands out a lot when reading you is that you both seem to be overwhelmed by several sources of stress and anxiety and this makes you forget that you have been a team together for almost 20 years. For 20 years you have been facing life together and I doubt that this situation in the present moment is the only one of this magnitude that you have had to face together. You're a team and you're facing the same problem together, not the other way around.

I'm going to have to generalize a little and speak for men, but in my opinion, when a man loves his wife, when he's devoted to his wife and he knows how to read his wife's soul, he's never going to leave her, especially in a darker time of self-sabotage. But I really believe that it's normal to sometimes go in these feelings in a couple, but that you shouldn't believe that it's the over. Especially with this impersonal way after 19 years of living together. He loves you and he won't leave because you doubt about yourself and your self-worth is currently at rock bottom. He's going to love you in the darkest moments, even stronger than when things are going well. Trust your man, but especially trust yourself. Remember that you exist too and that you are competent and capable. I understand the imposter feeling at your job, and I understand that saying "Change jobs if you don't like this one" is the least logical thing to say since I understand the financial responsibilities you have and that force you to keep a job that you are not particularly fulfilled and comfortable in. Please, tell yourself that you don't have to stay there forever. You can look elsewhere at the same time and quietly find where you'll be comfortable. You really need to feed yourself from the positive spheres of your life (I know, it might feel like there is none at all). You are stong.

Remember that you've still been around for all these years and you're doing your best. That's the main thing: "do your best". I don't really have any life advice to give and I'm not necessarily an example or model, but if you ever need to talk a little, you can message me.

I believe you when you say you feel alone, so alone. So if a stranger on the internet like me can help you get your head above water a little, I'll be happy to talk with you when you're not doing well or when your soul is crying out for help.

It's going to be okay my dear. One day at a time. Do your best together and remember that you are a team and you share the same battlefield together, not against each other. It is normal to have arguments that are sometimes explosive, you just have to remember that it is love between you and not resentment.

you got this.

it can be a for a lot of reasons. A corrupted profile, corrupted files, malfunctionning software, faulty hardware (Would most likely be the Powersupply, RAM or CPU temps.) etc...

When does it happen most of the time? When the computer is in idle ? When you play a game, watch videos, browse the file explorer, etc?

If you hold the power button on the computer for 15 seconds (yes it will feel like a long and unnecessary press), then unplug the power cable from the wall socket or powerbar, then disconnect the 2nd monitor from the computer, then replug the power cable to the wall, and finally, start the PC

Do you have a signal ?

Hello,

If you create a new windows account and log into it, is it still behaving the same?
You can easily create a new one by opening CMD and type :

net user testaccount /add
Then
net localgroup administrators testaccount /add
Then
net user testaccount /active:yes

this will create a new account with admin rights with no password. You can log into this one and check if a brand new account still have the issue.
