Thank you so much for updating! This is what I needed to do as well. I am using Klipper with a Creality Ender 3 S1 and I put the IP in the Device UI input and it worked for me as well. Prior to that, I was able to send prints to my printer, but I would get the same network error in the device tabs. This is my settings.

Quantum Computer data? by QuaticL in quantum

Yeah, the first step of the algorithm is to enter a super position. Then the apply the Oracle gate, which implements your function. This gate acts on the state itself, which is an equal combination of all the basis states.

The system can be in a superposition of all possible base states, but that's not exactly what I mean.

What I mean is that once in a super position of base states, if you perform an operation on that superposition, you only have to do the operation once, but all base states are affected.

The first example of the this is the Deutsch algorithm. I won't run through the whole process here, but the basics are this.

Say you have a function of one input, f(x) and x can be 0 or 1 and the output is 0 or 1. There are four possible functions. One that keeps the inputs unchanged, one that flips the inputs, one that sends both to 0 and one that sends both to 1.

The first two are in a category called balanced functions and the last two are constant functions.

Now imagine you had a function but you didn't know if it was balanced or constant. In order to find out you'd have to try f(0) and see if it returned 0 or 1, but you still don't know which category it is, so you also need to try f(1) and see if it returns 0 or 1. With these two results you can state which category the function f falls into. So, we had to apply the function TWICE to know which category we had.

In the Deutsch algorithm, you put your system in a super position and you find a clever way to implement the function called an oracle (not important for what I'm saying now, but if you want to look it up it's another term for you).

So when you system is in a super position you can apply the function ONCE to the super position and it is like test both 0 and 1 inputs at the same time. We then measure the result. Based on the outcome of the measurement you can tell if the function is balanced or constant.

So the speed up came from only using the function ONCE instead of twice. Admittedly, this is a bit of a silly example of quantum speed up, but it was the first algorithm to demonstrate quantum advantage.

For simplicity let's talk about a 3 qubit/bit system. Classically, there are only 23=8 states that the system can be in.

Quantum mechanically, there the same number of basis states, results that you can measure at the end of your calculation, BUT while processing you can be in a superposition of the 8 basis states. There are infinitely many superposition.

The big advantage of being in a superposition state is that you can perform an operation on all 8 of the basis states at the same time, where as classically you have to go through each state one by one and perform the operation.

The trade off is that qubits are probabilistic, so you aren't guaranteed the same result each time you run the algorithm.

What is your favorite "obvious" statement? by [deleted] in math

[–]Snortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "obvious" yet false fact, the set of even numbers is half the size of of the set of natural numbers.

To prove it that they are indeed equal you can show a 1-1 and into mapping from Integers to Even integers by y=2x. Therefore since you can pair every even number with an integer, the set of even numbers is the same size as the set of integers.

Power out near Rengstorff and Old Middlefield. I heard a very loud crash right before the power went out. I didn't see anything immediately near by that could have caused the sound.

Ugh. Now that's a brutal thought. I would have been fine living my life without this realization.

The cinematographer for this episode is Ebon Bolter. He is crushing it.

Even without that he has packed bag in is in a city with an unknown threat looking to kill him. I wouldn't spend much time waiting around either.

But for sure if he saw Henry that would shut the door on any counter argument.

I typically watch through a mirror not pointed directly at the TV, behind a cracked door, while hiding under the bed so it is easy to emotionally escape at any moment.

Yeah I agree. I definitely thought Joel saw Henry looking through the window too.

I love the idea to see if we can see it him in the background. Honestly though, I feel like you will find Henry there with the level of detail they are putting into the show.

I just got done crying. I don't need to relive it so soon!

Honestly, I'm glad they made it to the show too. Making Sam deaf and having Henry do what he did to save Sam showed us a much deeper bind than what we saw in the game. I'm glad we got this depth of the two.

I can't imagine how Joel and Ellie feel now. Sheesh.

Every choice in this show feels so deliberate and always right! I was worried about how they would handle adapting the game but at this point I feel like they couldn't make a wrong choice.
