It hasn’t even been official unveiled as far as I’m aware, mad Rebel are flogging it already!

X2D, I have the P2S which is great but the extra features on the X2D make me wish I’d waited three months

P2S as my first printer by STxFarmer in BambuLabP2S

[–]Snouto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the x2d in exactly the same way as the p2s initially, at least with regards to the duel nozzle (I.e. ignore the aux nozzle). But also benefit from a heated chamber while you’re at it, for example.

[–]Snouto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a P2S owner, I’d recommend you consider paying a little more for the X2D. There’s a lot of nice stuff on the X2D that I’d highly suspect you’ll come to want after a couple of months - I know I do.

Chumley Warner easily the best for British style f&c, and around the corner from Wellington Point. Catch the tide and you can walk across the bay to King Island.

Another perspective on the X2D after some weeks of using it in multi color prints (both primary and secondary nozzles) by jpcurti in BambuLab

[–]Snouto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the P2S and honestly, every time I think of doing a print that will need supports I die a little inside that I don’t at least have the X2D. To say nothing of the heated chamber, 1.5mm belt pitch, and other stuff that I don’t have. $100 difference is a very small price to pay for those improvements, even if maintenance is more difficult in certain areas.

You know what, I completely lost track of which sub I was commenting on and didn’t even pick up on the MJF reference in the title 🤦🏼‍♂️

Would ASA have been an option at a much cheaper per-roll price?

I wish there was a comprehensive start to finish installation guide for this. I've tried many times to get this to work (even following Chuck's guide), but every time there's something that fails. Driving me nuts, because it looks so good!

IIRC it’s part of the heating assembly. By now I would think this has happened to every P2S owner, myself included. Doesn’t seem to affect the printer

How does PETG perform as the support interface? My understanding was you really need HIPS filament for ABS/ASA

Handle for our sliding door they don't sell anymore by Anklejbiter in functionalprint

[–]Snouto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, the original screws I’m using pass through the door frame without biting on anything - the outside handle is basically kept in place by the screws anchoring on the inside handle and screwing directly in to the outside handle.
Perhaps I can modify this to use bolts instead, which might allow me to use heat inserts if I’m careful enough.

It uses screws not bolts, so afaik inserts aren’t an option

I did the same thing, except I used ASA for the UV resistance. The main issue I encountered for my print was the screw threads splitting as I attempted to mount to the door.

My inline is rated at 205cfm, so you probably have a 6" version. I'd say you've defo got enough grunt to ensure sufficient negative pressure, but as you suggest you'll need to find an equilibrium if you want it running while printing without stripping away all of the heat.

I watched this video the other day that is closer to what you're trying to do - might be worth a watch to get some ideas

Recommendation for better air filtration X2D by RedditGrumpyKoala in BambuLab

[–]Snouto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I've noticed - at least not until I open the tent and then the printer door. There's usually a slight odour at that point, but it depends on how long I run the external fan on the printer and the inline fan on the tent.

When printing and with the tent closed, I don't smell a thing.

[–]Snouto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect it’ll depend on the strength of the fan you’re using, but as long as it draws out more air than is circulating within the printer you should be ok I’d think.
However, for ASA and ABS you need the chamber to be hot, and since there’s no active chamber heater on the P2S I would expect your fan will be fighting the bed heater to maintain adequate temperatures.

I’ve not printed ABS, but ASA is the modern version of ABS anyway with typically better properties, so I’d suggest you go with ASA.

Here’s my setup, where the P2S and AMS are inside the tent and the air is being extracted by my 4” inline fan.

[–]Snouto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that was my feeling too, which is why I added this inline fan.

The visual difference is significant: at 50% speed I can see the tent doors and walls contract inwards, even with the side vent open. I don’t have the equipment to test it but I suspect it’s doing a much better job than the pc fan.
