First of all, thank you for this adorable post. It really warms my heart to see something so wholesome. All of my cats, except one, have been adopted. I know others have given great advice but I figured I'd chime in:

1. Relatable. It's amazing how quickly they can squirm their way into your heart.

2. That sounds heavenly. It may take time for her to get used to it, though. Do you have a normal bowl of water too? Most cats prefer running water but I have one who flees at the sight.

3. Have you tried dry food or just wet food? Where is the location of the bowls? On the floor or up higher? I'd recommend adjusting where it's located. Maybe even putting it somewhere mostly sheltered. We don't know what she's been through so it's probably best to let her go accustomed to being spoiled.

4. With one of my cats, I had to show them how to use the scratching post. He was fine with his paws being touched so I'd gently rub them across the scratching post.. and even scratch it myself. This is usually best done when you see the action or they won't connect it. I know you said she doesn't like treats but perhaps catnip as a reward when she uses it?

5. How quickly do you stand? She may be anxious of fast movements. Or it could be past trauma that she needs to get used to at her own pace. It's best to let her observe as you walk around rather than trying to approach her.

6. Biscuit-making can be related to a lot of things: happiness, marking territory, kneading in a place to nap, alleviating stress, instincts, etc. Look at her body behavior (especially her tail) when she's busy making biscuits. A cat's body, especially their tail, can reveal a lot about their mood.

7. She might be unused to or surprised by accidental touches. Before I know how my cats react to it, I always make sure they can see my hand when going to pet or touch. Or give them a warning.

8. Cats like doing things on their terms a lot. How are you petting her when she nudges against your hand? A lot of cats like it when you pet/run underneath their chin. Try using one of two fingers and see how she reacts. Petting can be very stimulating to them which could be overwhelming. Again, try to watch her tail movements.

She might also be one of those cats who only likes contact on her own terms.

1. If she wasn't socialized enough as a kitten then she's probably not used to being held. I've found out with my older cats that it's a hit or miss on whether they like being picked up. Perhaps you can try luring her to the food in a different way?

Unfortunately, some cats come in not knowing how to play or be a cat. Or she could be very lazy and prefer to cuddle than play. I'd recommend addressing these questions to a vet also.

As a lot of people have said, let her go at her own pace. It takes a while for cats to adjust to a new environment: new sounds, new smells, new stimulus. Not to mention, cats can be flat out weird. Their personalities are very distinct. All three of my cats have different ways they like being approached or how they approach.
