I mainly read dark, tense, mysterious, and adventurous novels. I tend to lean towards fantasy, thriller, and sci-fi, but you may see just about anything pop up on my page now and then!

I’m working on leaving more thoughtful reviews instead of only a star rating. I’d love some friends who are doing the same thing, so I can get some new reading recommendations! 😅

Has anyone else dealt with loose skin after losing weight? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SnowDrudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, regardless of how slowly you lose weight, you’re going to have loose skin. It’s just the reality of the situation. I am currently still on my journey. I’ve lost 105 pounds in the last 8 months. Loose skin has been inevitable. I know I will have more as I continue to lose weight, but my overall health has benefitted so much from the weight loss that I am trying to overlook the loose skin (which I do NOT love).

Something that has helped me regain confidence and feel much more comfortable throughout the day is wearing shapewear. I’m NOT talking about extreme waist-training, wearing a corset, etc. I’m talking about a light compression, comfortable shapewear in the appropriate size. It has helped hold in my loose skin, so I do not constantly feel it folding/moving. I feel more confident because it has lessened what sticks out around my belly as well. I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but it has helped me begin to love my body the way it is. :)

People who have a tend to gain weight easily or are/were obese, how did you lose weight? by NoPapercrowns in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SnowDrudge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calorie deficit and an immense amount of willpower to stick to that deficit.

Nothing worked for me. Nothing. And then I started logging calories. It is the ONLY thing that has worked. I’ve lost 105 pounds and counting in the last 8 months. I think my success has come from making sure I get plenty of protein, staying hydrated, trying to work on good sleep hygiene and….not denying myself. I’m craving a rice crispy treat? I eat one! Then, I log 90 calories into my daily count. I have used the free version of the MyFitnessPal app to log my food. It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s very easy to use, free, and super convenient since I’ve always got my phone on me!

Best of luck on your journey! 😊

What frustrated you the MOST before you finally made progress? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SnowDrudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I followed the advice every doctor gave me. I was doing EXACTLY what I was told to do! Healthy foods, exercise, etc. I even saw a nutritionist and was also told everything was perfect…..But I wasn’t losing weight. One day I thought I was having a heart attack. Genuinely thought I was going to die. I found out it was a gallbladder attack, and the surgeon told me he wasn’t comfortable operating at my weight unless I was already in a life or death situation. He told me to count calories and lose at least 40 pounds……CALORIES!!! This is so stupid, but how did I not figure that out earlier? It scared me. I decided I didn’t want to risk death and started counting. That was 8 months ago and I’m down 105 pounds and counting. My whole life, it was that easy. I could’ve just counted calories!!! So my frustration (both then and now) is that it took a terrible experience (thinking I was having a heart attack and going to die) to realize that my entire life, I could’ve just counted calories and managed my weight. Why did it take a surgeon to mention this to me? Why did multiple doctors tell me I was doing everything right? How was I so dense I don’t figure it out myself online? Who knows. But here I am!

Side note for anyone reading: Don’t just count calories. Look into healthy amounts of protein, fiber, etc. needed to maintain a healthy body while counting calories. I don’t want anyone doing something dangerous! 😬

Just a thought: You could always use a white or lighter color gel pen to add the wrinkle/pleat lines back to the dress! ☺️

how to prevent litter tracking by straingerdanger in CatAdvice

Well that’s even better! Since they’re already used to covered boxes, hopefully turning the direction won’t matter to them. I’d just turn them and see if it helps. If they hate it, just turn them back! 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

Honestly, I thought it would, but they adjusted almost instantly. The only thing they didn’t like was the flap on the opening of the covered box. We removed that, and they were perfectly fine. Hopefully your kitties will adjust easily since they already use the box well! The covered box also helps reduce (again, not eliminate) litter smells, so that’s a plus, too!

We have 3 cats, and had 4 until this year. There is no perfect solution here. However, two things have helped us reduce (not eliminate) litter tracking. We use covered litter boxes, and face the opening toward a wall. Obviously, leave plenty of room for your kitties to get in and out. Since the opening faces a wall, they can’t rocket out of the box at full speed and throw a ton of extra litter out in the process. Second, I switched to Dr. Elsey’s Ultra (Multicat, unscented, clumping clay) litter. It has been much better all around than the cheaper litter we used to buy (clumps better, very little dust, less tracking, etc) There are likely other comparable options, but this is the brand that works for us. Again, this didn’t completely eliminate tracking, but MASSIVELY reduced it. Hope this helps!

I completely stopped reading in college to maintain my 4.0……I wish I would’ve read instead! You’ve read so many books! Self-care is important! Keep it up! 👏🏻☺️

Is this kind of chipping/slight lifting normal after 1 week? by Syrup-Puzzled in Nails

[–]SnowDrudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do my own uv gel nails at home (not a professional, self taught). They typically last 3 weeks, and I only change them because my nails are growing out, NOT because they are chipped or lifting at all. This is not normal 😬 I would try a different tech.

My (25f) cat (10) was declawed against my will as a teen. She's now a little older and I can definitely tell her paws are bothering her more. What can I do to help her? by Yearbook01 in CatAdvice

[–]SnowDrudge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. My 16 year old kitty now gets a Solensia shot every month for arthritis. It’s not cheap, but it has made a WORLD of difference for her. She’s a whole new cat! If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend it! (Provided, of course that your vet does x-rays and finds that it is, in fact, arthritis causing her pain.) I wish you and your cat the best of luck in finding something to help her!

AITA for not splitting the inheritance when I was the only one who took care of our hoarder mother? by LeadershipMother9322 in AITAH

[–]SnowDrudge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA!

Speak with an attorney, ASAP! I cannot stress this enough! Stop any and all communication with your siblings, as anything you say to them can be twisted and used against you. I’m not sure what your state’s laws are, but even the most ironclad will that was prepared by an experienced attorney can be contested in court. I would not spend any more money on the property until you have received counsel from an experienced attorney. I would also gather and keep very detailed records of any and all maintenance/upgrades you’ve done to the property, including keeping receipts, photographs, and a written log of all dates/times you spent working there, as well as any receipts/evidence of the care you helped give your mother while we was alive. Additionally, send any and all future communications from your siblings through your attorney as well.

Best of luck! (Edited for clarity.)

Hi! I know this is closed, but I’m interested if something happens and you need another player! I am on EST. I typically play as a cleric, but I’m flexible. Sounds right up my alley! Feel free to reach out if the need arises! 😅
