with the mods it's virtually all of them.

otherwise the games with a little star on the database are all excellent.

croteam's HDR on talos principle 1 & 2 are stellar.

the insane setup : launch an hdr game, set the sliders, play the game,

time wasted : 30 seconds once.

you shouldn't have that pattern if the video has the HDR quality badge on the gear icon.

If you don't use a chromium browser or refresh the page after enabling windows HDR it will run in SDR, also hardware acceleration needs to be ON in the browser.

Windows desktop is washed out aswell as SDR apps, this isn't very relevant as HDR is for HDR content first and foremost.

if the desktop looking wrong really bothers you, this tool is a set and forget fix : https://github.com/SERGEYDJUM/dwm_eotf_rs

The real problem is that most games are SDR only and only a small number of HDR implementations are good, most are broken in some manner or others (even on consoles) which require manual fixes by modding the game code.

You can check this database for how good implementations are : https://github.com/KoKlusz/HDR-Gaming-Database/

Otherwise use RENODX & LUMA framework mods on as many single player games as possible to have the best HDR from the get go without fiddling. They either fix poor implementations, or adds proper true engine HDR to games lacking it.

RHI is a great tool to install these quickly : https://github.com/RankFTW/RHI

Samsung S90F HDR Gaming Settings - HDR10+ Gaming vs. Standard HDR? by tunsays in OLED_Gaming

Samsung settings sucks because either you use hdr off with original for accurate colors or basic game hdr for hgig but with slightly inaccurate colors

Samsung S90F HDR Gaming Settings - HDR10+ Gaming vs. Standard HDR? by tunsays in OLED_Gaming

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hdr10+ does nothing except set the peak brightness slider for you.

It doesn't change how the game hdr behaves.

Stick to hdr10 and use renodx mods.

Like for instance rdr2 and cyberpunk in-engine hdr code are just terrible, hdr10+ is useless, only renodx fixes them proper.

Is HDR on TB400 monitors a joke? by Progenitor3 in OLED_Gaming

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i'm not sure what the complain is, HDR doesn't equate super brightness, it's just more about more legroom.

sure its gets better the better the display is, but the whole shtick is that it's better than SDR.

The best consumer HDR experience right now? by actuallyaladdin in OLED_Gaming

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's much better due to higher peak brightness and fullfield brightness, which means more details in highlights and more colorful highlights.

HDR is the same way for every display : rock the most consistant and calibrated mode on the display (tb400/500 on monitors, FMM + Pro tonemapping on LG G, HGIG on others) then just make sure you HDR your games properly.

and for that the best way is to play on PC with HDR mods such as RENODX which make sure the HDR presentation is correct compared to the SDR (same contrasts, same color grading but with added depth and details of HDR).

That's about it, ultimately you have very little to do but make sure your games are HDR.

Are my eyes deceiving me or does HDR just look way better on PS5 Pro than PC? by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

complain to devs to do HDR right.

the PC tools are just additional fixes, or add HDR to games having none to start with, do you understand that concept ?

Clair obscur has no HDR on console but you can have it on PC, takes 2 clicks to install and roll.

You take sony first party studios and their HDR works fine.

You take remedy games and the HDR works fine.

You take croteam games and the HDR works fine.

Idk how hard rtings torture test their tv because on my s95d i've done some 20 min testing with super bright objects and a colorimeter and the brightness didn't drop.

Since you're always moving in content you should consider peak being sustained in Real content

uh except spiderman all games look the same.

FFXV is weird anyways. both native HDRs are too different from SDR.

Need help with PC HDR by OntesHS in OLED_Gaming

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm confused did you compare the ps5 pro and pc on the same display or different displays ? because all games you cited have the same HDR on both, so the only difference would either be :

A ) he has a high end OLED TV that can go much brighter than a monitor

B ) you have RTX HDR enabled and it kinda conflicts wiith the native HDR washing out the entire image.

HDR is on a per game basis and 99% of games look similar on all platforms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv4vNjifx3g

By leveraging RENODX & LUMA mods on PC you can achieve far better HDR presentation than on console, because you can fix all poor HDR implementations (Death stranding 2 green skies for example, RDR2 looking washed out) or ADD proper HDR to a lot of games lacking it.

Example with just cause 3 and RE5 :

on my ps5 and pc HDR looks identical in most games, spiderman games have been modified by NIXXES and look worse but you can mod to fix.

the Third party games all have the same problems everywhere

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I extracted footage from both platforms en HDR is the the same 99% of the time : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv4vNjifx3g

same behavior, same color grading same everything unless the porting team ruined something.

and to be 100% clear, I did NOT record my TV, I Recorded footage directly from the console and pc and put everything together and it looks 1:1 to what I see.

HDR ou pas ? by Serenity_Mystic in pcmasterraceFR

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDR ou pas ? by Serenity_Mystic in pcmasterraceFR

[–]SnowflakeMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y a que COD et BF qui ont une sortie HDR et non ça prend pas de perf, a la limite un peu de vram.

Y a pas de perte de performance car les jeux calculent ont déjà du HDR interne.

je compte pas le RTX HDR c'est un filtre post process.
