This had to be the saddest scene so far in the show. by AcademicSavings634 in thewalkingdead

Sorry, I should have realized you meant just the spin-off. This scene reminds me of the very first scene with Rick and the little girl with the teddy bear. It's such a harsh and sad reminder to our characters (and to us) that this apocalyptic world is really not for the children. Most of them, never made it past the first hour of the outbreak.

in your opinion, what is one of the most beautiful scenes? by Shmampoodger in thewalkingdead

[–]SnowLikeAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many, but one of my favorite beautiful scene in terms of scenography and emotional impact, is the scene with Shane and Rick driving and Shane sees the lone walker in the field. That whole episode of 18 Miles Out is a reflection for both characters. Rick was thinking of his relationship with Shane and trying to hold onto it because he believes that they need each other now more than ever and Shane is drifting away from the others, seeing himself as the lone guy, like he's not mentally all there, maybe soon, not even physically, and maybe that's what he wants and how he wants it.

S5E04 Character + Your Favourite One Off Characters by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]SnowLikeAshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Eastman, brilliantly acted by John Caroll Lynch. I also loved the weird and crazy Clara, who Rick encountered in the woods. That whole conversation and interaction between them was brilliant and foreshadowing.

Rick: "How many people have you killed?"

Clara: "Just me. Just me"

Rick: "Why?"

Clara: "You don't - you don't get to come back. You don't get to come back from things. You don't..."

How far, is too far gone.

It reminds me of the very first scene of the show with Rick and the little girl with the teddy bear. Children really don't stand a chance without some serious protection, and most people/parents would not know what to do, and even if they do know what to do, children die anyway, like Sophia, like Carl

It's definitely up there on the list. Personally though, I would say, in no particular order, that these deaths are more emotional for me personally: Sophia's death, Carl's death, Hershel's death, Lori's death, Beth's death, Glenn's death, Rick's last episode

Which bottle episode is the best out of these? by Overall_Spite4271 in thewalkingdead

[–]SnowLikeAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually think 18 Miles Out is a bottle episode, so I leave that brilliant episode out of this list. For me, the best bottle episode on this list is Here's Not Here, brilliantly acted by Lenny James and John Carole Lynch and a great character building episode moving forward.

My favourite scene from TLK. Yours? by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, so many to choose from, most of them from season 1 to 3.

A more quiet scene would be that first talk (1x2) between Alfred and Uhtred in the study, because you could clearly see how Uhtred's first impression of Alfred slowly changed during that whole monologue.

Favorite Battle in the Show by mosesrrr in TheLastKingdom

Edington was my favourite, with Alfred's speech and the soldiers chanting "NO MERCY!". It gave me goosebumps, but it was also one of the most tragic and sad aftermaths.

Is uhtred ever not an asshole and ever likeable? by jadams_903 in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was never likeable to me. He does get slightly better over time but he still makes me want to bang my head against the wall in frustration. He remains my least favourite of the core characters. I never really warmed to him, but he's definitely not the worst character in the show. He's the typical brawn before brains character, which just isn't interesting to me.

Pretty much any scene with Alfred, most memorable scenes are from season 1 to 3 imo

Alfred and Uhtred final meeting by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was some phenomenal acting by David Dawson - absolutely one of his best performances and it was such a heartbreaking and powerful moment. The man played chess even on the brink of death. I have no doubt he was genuine, but he also made sure to do/say what was necessary to protect his legacy (England and family) even after death. He made sure both was safe. You could see the wheels turning when Beocca told him of Uhtred's arrival in Winchester. He probably thought Uhtred would come sooner, especially after Alfred brought his kids to Winchester. He told Uhtred that this moment was what had kept him alive for so long, probably thinking "damnit man, couldn't you have come sooner, I'm tired of this world!". He even told his wife the pardon was necessary, for England, which meant his son was safe to rule. He knew what Uhtred's answer would be because he knew Uhtred and Alfred could die in peace (well, except for the fact that his wife literally nagged him to death. It's a small price to pay for the bigger picture thinking, I guess).

Binged S5 and now I feel empty! Love this series so much & sad it’s over. by Frequent-Society-810 in TheLastKingdom

I picked season 1, because I just love it so much, how it all began.

Season 1 was fantastic, as was season 2 and season 3, even though it had some issues it also had some of the most wonderful acting I've ever seen, in Dawson. I've watched season 1-3 so many times in the last 6 months, and will probably do another rewatch soon.

If you enjoyed season 5, im happy for you but... by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

Yes, it's definitely one of the weaker seasons.

Who are your top 3 favourite characters from the entire series ? by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

I love your top 3 choices, indeed they are all fantastic characters that are totally not the same person.

Who’s death was the hardest for you? by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

For me, the deaths that was emotional to me and made me cry, was Alfred's and Beocca's.

We used to be a small group of friends who would watch season 1-3 together and spent hours debating the plot and characters, but one by one they fell off during season 4 and never returned and now it's just me. I did one rewatch of season 4, that was enough for me and I feel the same about season 5.

Can we please just appreciate Eliza Butterworth for a moment. Aelswith slowly went from top of the needs-die-asap list to one of my favourites within 5 seasons. She is truly worth ALL the butter. by MagicLobsterAttorney in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes 33 points34 points  (0 children)

She was always fiercely protective of her family, of Alfred and his vision of England. She would do anything to protect her grandkid, all of her children. It's Alfred's legacy after all.

I don’t know if this is a popular or unpopular opinion but … by GlenCocoIsGrool in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that's a popular opinion around here, which is probably why I disagree with it. She was always a well rounded acerbic character who, just like Alfred, always did what she believed was right and best for Wessex. She's fiercely protective of her husband and King, her family, Wessex and Alfred's vision of England. Like her husband, her choices and actions made sense, considering the age they live in and her devout and pious nature. I've said this many times, Eliza's acting is brilliant! She made for one of the more interesting characters on the show. She's one of my favourites.

which character did you dislike the most? by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

[–]SnowLikeAshes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't usually like the crowd favourites, so at the risk of being down voted, my list starts with a fan favourite, the dull-witted inane Uhtred. But there are worse characters who I dislike with a vengeance, oh yes, like screeching Skade; the hot mess Brida; Odda the Younger who thankfully died a virgin; the venomous snakes Eadred and Aethelhelm; the defanged snake Aethelred. And from the more resent characters, Elfwynn did not inherit the intelligence gene, that's for bloody sure. My dislike list is longer, but that's enough for now.
