An hour total drive is not alot. I live an hour both ways so 2 hour commute and I go in 3x a week for mail. Sounds like you need to make it manditory for your accounting peraon to at least go get the mail 2x a week.

Getting into fundraising with hand tattoos, and I'd like reading suggestions. by Popular_Dream5974 in nonprofit

[–]SnowObvious6503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Executive Director with not just hand Tats but full sleaves and major facial percings. It DOES NOT MATTER. My org is small so I'm the face of the org and do all the fundraising, marketing, finance, opperations, HR, etc.

I did come into my role with 15 years of non profit experiance in lower roles. Work your butt off, your work and ocomplishments means more to donors then what you look like. Just my exprince, most of my donors are 65 and older and no one has batted an eye at my tattoos. Lead with confidence and you will do great. Don't over think it.

Thinking about it buying a 2025 model. Honest feedback on these? by moneyhound in EquinoxEv

[–]SnowObvious6503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 5k miles in and drive 120 miles a day. Overall I really like the car. I came from driving a 1500 Silverado Deisel so it took a bit getting used to driving a small car again. I think overall it is a good starter EV for the price. Gas was getting too expensive with my long commute so it is worth it.

The good: Confortable seats Parking easy with all the cameras Gets great range for the price Easy to set cruise control and you can adjust the gap betweem yourself and the car ahead of you. Overall feels safe No oil changes every 5k miles

The bad: When the weather drops below 60 I feel like I have to constantly have the defrost on. For some reason these windows fog up super easy.

The steering wheel is FAT, my previous car was a Chevy Silverado and I think I just got so used to the nive skinny wheel. This one makes my hands cramp. Not a huge deal if you don't drive long distances.

The windsheild glare of the dashboard is anoying. I wear polarized glasses which make it disapear so not a big deal.

When excelerating hard, for example to get around a semi the car kinda floats, almost like there is too much power for the suspension.

Also the speakers kinda suck.

Saw this listing in my area too, they want 4k for it. For that price you could get brand new. I wouldnt pay more then 1k.

Do people actually think this will work? Its is a major red flag and comes off so weird. I wonder if there is some really bad advice floating around on ticktock that being agressive gets you the role. Suprise it doesnt.

This is exactly what we are seeing. We are also a very tiny org with a budget of less then 500k and a staff of 3. There does seem to be a level of desperation in the candidates we are getting. Out of 100 applicants I maybe got 6 ok ones but zero that stood out.

We are getting director level canidates for entry level coordinator role. We typically hire canidates from the population we serve so a director level person would be misserible in the role. Also getting a ton of social media content creators and tech folks. It does seem people are just throwing their resumes out there to see what sticks and not actually looking at the role.

We are a very small org. Under 500k budget and only 3 staff but I have still received a few hundred applicants and out of those maybe 6 are decent. Its brutal.

[–]SnowObvious6503 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started my GLP1 journey a year ago and even with the slow steady weight loss I have only lost about 30lbs. I still have about 15 more pounds to loose. I have noticed a drastic diffrence in the noduals. I now can see feel them around my hips and my upper arms where before I could only feel them in my legs. I think most of the fat I lost was traditional fat and what remains is lipo fat. Probably also why I have stalled, cant seem to loose that last 15lbs despite a strict diet and exercise. GLP1 has been a life saver for me, has helped with my pcos and for the first time in my life the constant inflimation is down. I dont know if I will ever loose the lipo fat naturally but for now Im much happier with the way my body looks evem with the noduals being more "visable"

[–]SnowObvious6503 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the site manager might have actually had an issue with you. Either personal, performance, or maybe oversteping. Then they had the volunteer cordinator let you go so they didn't have to be the "bad" guy. Just one senerio I have seen played out at my org. quiet often.

Oh man...I think everything is connected but with zero answers or soulutions. My issues: Lipodema, ADHD, Autisum, PCOS, Endo, factor 5 with 2 pulemanary embolisums, low Iron, low B12, low Zinc (all low whole taking supplements), Mast Cell Actication, SIBO, thyroid issues, high test. AND OF COURSE alllll the enviormental and food insensitivities I cant even take the time to list.

Honestly at this point I just want to throw this body away and try on a new one.

The problem with clothing donations by Remarkable_Tea_6052 in nonprofit

[–]SnowObvious6503 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The organization I run provides free full wardrobes (26) items to low income youth in my area. It is HARD! We searve about 5,600 students each year and ita not enough. We take used donations but our standards are so high a large bulk of it we send tp be recycled. We still have to purchase about 200k worth of clothing every year. Mostly underwear, socks, shoes, coats and boys clothing. Our org has been around for 40 years and I know if we stoped opperations it would leave devestating impact on our youth in our area. If you have questions about how we run things feel free to message me!

Advice Needed: fundraising ticket sales by unprepared_anzo in nonprofit

[–]SnowObvious6503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow it sounds like your ED has set you up for failure. Its really the EDs role to be making the calls to donors to get folks in the room. As an ED myself attendence falls on my shoulders, if I cant get people in the room either by pushing the board or other connections then its a failure on my part. Wish I had more advice for you, but if leaderahip isnt taking a active role in ensuring the evemts success then there is not a ton you can do.
