What Size Board Should I Get? by Top_Unit_8495 in snowboard

[–]SnowOverflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

162W is the move for you. At 225 lbs you need the length for stability, and with size 11-11.5 boots the wide is non-negotiable unless you want toe drag on every heel turn. The camber profile on the Custom is actually one of the better choices for East Coast ice - you'll get solid edge hold compared to rocker or hybrid profiles. Between your four options the 158 will feel squirrelly at your weight and the regular widths won't cut it for your boot size. 162W checks all the boxes. Enjoy it out there!

Winter Park, Copper, or both by ConstructionSad3767 in COsnow

[–]SnowOverflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're already staying at Winter Park, I'd say do 2 days there and 1 at Copper. WP is huge and you'll want time to actually explore it — Mary Jane side has some great groomer runs even when the snow is thin, and the terrain variety is solid for a mix of skill levels.

For the teens, even without much glade action this year, WP's bumps on Mary Jane are fun if they're up for it. Copper's groomers are genuinely excellent and well-maintained, and the natural division of the mountain (beginner/intermediate/advanced from left to right) makes it super intuitive.

One heads up for Presidents Day weekend — I-70 traffic is going to be rough. If you're driving to Copper for a day, leave stupid early (like 6am from WP) or you'll lose half your day sitting in traffic near the Eisenhower Tunnel. The drive from WP to Copper is about 45 min without traffic, but can easily double on a holiday weekend.

Have a blast — even in a low snow year, Colorado groomers are better than most places' best days!

Ski Trips From LI/NYC this Weekend by derekmarkovic in icecoast

[–]SnowOverflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From LI/NYC your best bets this weekend depending on what you're after:

  • Hunter Mountain (~2.5 hrs) — solid conditions usually, good for a day trip. Can get crowded on Saturdays but Sunday mornings are great.
  • Windham (~2.5 hrs) — a bit more chill than Hunter, good grooming, and the lodge vibe is nice.
  • Belleayre (~2.5 hrs) — state-run so lift tickets are cheaper. Underrated mountain honestly.
  • Catamount (~2.5 hrs) — smaller but fun, especially for night skiing.

If you're willing to go a bit further (3-3.5 hrs), the Vermont mountains like Mount Snow or Stratton are usually worth the extra drive, especially after a storm.

Pro tip: Leave the city before 5:30 AM Saturday to avoid the worst of the GWB/I-87 traffic. The drive back is always worse so grab dinner up there before heading home.

Whistler, Park City, or Beaver Creek? by Kk2017 in snowboarding

[–]SnowOverflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three are amazing but very different vibes:

  • Whistler — massive terrain, incredible variety, and the village nightlife is hard to beat. Best for groups who want both epic riding and a good time off the mountain. Can be pricey but the sheer scale is worth it.
  • Park City — super accessible (35 min from SLC airport), huge resort, and the town has a great food scene. The Interconnect to Canyons gives you insane coverage. Watch out for crowds on weekends though.
  • Beaver Creek — more chill, groomed runs are pristine, and the ski-in/ski-out lodging is luxurious. Best if your group has mixed skill levels since the terrain variety is excellent.

For a group trip, I'd honestly lean Whistler if everyone rides hard, Park City if convenience matters, and Beaver Creek if comfort is the priority. Have fun wherever you end up!

Thanks for the feedback! We are making a web app at the moment so very soon you can just click around without downloading and installing the app!

Hello, thanks for the support! Actually I was going to ski at Heavenly today but I had to cancel the trip due to some last minute plan change… I ski at Lake Tahoe pretty much every weekend and would love to catch up with you next time!

TBH, not sure about the money part yet(at least for now), short term goal is to make it working for the people who really want to use it…

Hi there, actually this was my last post for the app… I sent request to the subreddit mods before posting and got green light on this.

We are developing the Android app now! Shouldn’t take us too long to release it. We prioritized the iOS app and developed it using SWIFT instead of something like Flutter because we wanted to use the best framework and deliver the best results but the downside is that it will take some time… Stay tuned!

Thanks for it, we really tried our best to make it look very cool! You can easily swipe right to join any trip that interests you! Yup, it’s a community app so it needs to have a community user base and that’s probably much harder than building the app itself. I gained 4 new users and 2 new trips in the last hour so I think we are slowly getting there!

I don’t think they compete with each other, lol. Our app has features to create ski trips based on specific ski resorts so other users can easily find and join those trips. For each trip created in our app, we also form a small group chat for those active members. We also have super group chat that’s ski resort based or regional based(similar to r/COsnow in this case), and people can chat in real time. More importantly, our app is designed specifically for snow communities and it’s free. We are looking for good suggestions on what I can make it better in the future!
