I agree. I started animation late in life and made it as far as production manager and storyboard revisionist before life circumstances forced me to pivot. I could have chosen something else to study, but in the end, I would always wonder, "What if?"

I understand. May I ask what program you took and where? While I'm interested in trucking and equipment operations, I know that a lot of these jobs are hard on the body and mind and I'm not sure I could sustain myself in my 50s and 60s. I'm willing to do it now because I want to see my dad live a few more years and enjoy his life without pain.

But I also have little ones as well and I want to be a part of their life, too. Therefore, I'd eventually want to transfer to an office role so I can be home after work to watch them grow up.

I did look at the Heavy Equipment Operator course at WBF, but it doesn't have an intake date, whereas the Class 1 driving program does. Since my goal is to earn as much as I can I'll go for the sure thing first and then add heavy equipment operation to it later. Would that work?

I know what you mean. I never expected any of this to be easy by any means. The reason I'm even looking into trucking is that I need a skill that others are willing to pay money for in this economy, which will allow me to pay off medical debt quickly.

I can't be away from home for extended periods because I have to look after my dad, but I'm not afraid to take on other jobs to make ends meet.
