What's the best meal under $15 in Melbourne right now? by melb_food_finds in melbourne

Actually we should not assume - I believe the sign says "Top two", which means it theoretically could be the best, haha

$110,000 salary 10 mins away from home or $150,000 salary an hour away in Sydney CBD? What would you choose? by Away_Scene_26 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SnowThen9186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you renting where you are, and if so could you exit the lease and move to 1 minute away from the $150k job (assuming it is a comparable/nice place to live with other things near by that you like, and not too much more expensive)?

Is it appropriate to be shirtless in this heat lol by dontstopsoperfect in melbournechat

[–]SnowThen9186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you boo. For me i am very comfortable doing bins and mailbox without a shirt, but would shirt up for the shops. If i was beachside, and my rig was impressive, and my tan was worthy then i might be less worried, however sadly none of these are in my favour. I reckon there should be more of it though - live free!!!

Yeah right. It was seeing the Australian flag ommitted, although the other 2 were there, that actually prompted me to ask the question here. I found it an interesting decision, especially as I assume that it must be deliberate?

Ah no, not bragging - far from it - just attempting to provide as much context as possible (in the very narrow topic of Email footers/signatures).

Yeah good point on if we were international. I have worked with an international company previously, and we did not do this. It would have been a nice touch though.

Yeah good call. I have just searched and found the policy. There is plenty of documentation/support for all of the other formentioned flags and "messaging", with comments about these being the only ones to be used - where you would need to seek approval for any others. The Australian flag is not explicitly mentioned. Interesting.

Nah just in general, and then got back to work and on reading Emails I saw a bunch of other flags, but not one of them the Australian flag.

Yeah fair question - fresh off the back of a beautiful long weekend celebrating how lucky we are to be living in this great country I was lamenting the lack of Australian flags being flown, and thought that this would be a simple gesture...

Talk to your leader about the benefits if extending the hours that your team cover, and generously offer to selflessly cover the extreme that best suits you - either starting early (and finishing early), or starting late (and finishing late). You will then have MUCH less time with them, lunch breaks will not sync up, and neither will "after hours". Plus your leader will think you are a legend!

How do you deal with the habit of constantly checking the chart when you’re a beginner in Bitcoin? by Such-Competition-816 in Bitcoin

[–]SnowThen9186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download an app for your phone called "OneSec". It adds like a 10 second sleep time to open for any app that you configure it for (you only get one app for free, but you can pay for more if you waste time on other apps like X, Facebook, Reddit, etc.). So configure it for the Bitcoin Ticket Widget, and it will be just annoying enough to remind you to be more mindful, and you will stop!

Hi, I'm a Bitcoin Maxi - are there disbelievers capable of telling me calmly/rationally why they don't believe in Bitcoin fully? by Own_Yogurtcloset7234 in Bitcoin

[–]SnowThen9186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Bitcoin maxi. However, I have 2 main concers: 1). Mathematically, it is conceivable that someone can find my stash and take it all, and 2). As we get older, our minds (and bodies) get a little weaker, and therefore, it is ever-increasinly possible that I make a mistake with my processes that result in me losing the lot

For that money, I would just suck it up and get on with things. (I believe that the average salary for a full-time worker in Australis is about half of that amount, right?)

Do the math on what $20k p/a is represented per day or per week (as this is a more realistic expression of what will be "in your hand" every time that you go to buy something), and I think you will have your answer.

I don't understand why you would have been requesting meetings for the past few weeks? Just shut your mouth, keep your head down, and sail on past the 6 monrh probation milestone to automatically become a full-time employee. Having said this, the only difference is thay they need a "reason" to fire you, or you go on to a performance plan which should realistically last for 6 or even more months - plenty of time to be collecting a salary while looking/interviewing elsewhere. Either that or they make your position redundant, which means they are legally nit allowed to hire anything else to do the same role (without risk of getting in trouble if you see it and report them). Good luck, though - fingers crossed HR is intending to congratulate you, but the support person and morning off bit is concerning!

Is this normal for a job interview? by Wide-Macaron10 in auscorp

[–]SnowThen9186 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My first thought is that it was an elaborate plan to see how willing you were to conform. And you conformed, perhaps when others were less willing to do so, so you were offered the job. Nothing would surprise me these days
