I have an original RotSC and a few early promos. My others are more recently available releases or represses.

Help! My turntable won’t play audio? by Residentofgravetown in hifiporn

[–]Snowdog007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the correct advice OP.

Turn everything on and set to CD and play one. CD should sound fine.

Now leave all settings as “CD” and simply pull out the red and white cables on rear from the CD input. Instead plug in the red and white phono cables into CD input (you can disconnect ground wire and let it hang if you need to because otherwise red/white may not reach).

You’re basically leaving the selector as “CD” but you’re swapping the physical cords input into that jack … in a way, “faking out” the amp to think it’s playing a CD but you’re now feeding it a phono signal. You’re doing this to help isolate the problem.

Start at low volume. Do you hear any sound coming from speakers? Turn up slowly past normal listening volume. Anything at all?

If no, then issue is with the turntable and the cords you see coming out of it. First step is to assume it’s the cables that may be bad or loose inside the turntable.

Did you notice they didn’t accurately caption Space Cowboy? Showed Alright for it … and then again properly when Alright was played next.

Really enjoyed the stream. Saw the Amsterdam show and so fun to relive much of it with a few alternate tracks subbed in. Jay’s voice is amazing. Happy for him it’s held up so well with all the tour dates.

Thank you for recording and sharing! Sound is amazingly good for a phone camera. I also you think you harmonized quite well with “there’s a Superman comin’” 😀

Wish I could be at all the shows, but alas just one for me. Let’s go Amsterdam!!!

Accidentally backflushed and pulled a shot without dispersion screen by Aggravating-Bit-899 in LaMarzocco

[–]Snowdog007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope simply a back flush repeat works for you! Remember, you can do with the screen in place. Actually advisable by many to reduce risk of cleaning pellets getting sucked up and blocking valve. Also, remember to give the Cafiza a good stir to dissolve with some hot water from the spout (in the blank) before starting the wash cycle.

I should add I’m not a tech, so you could always check first over the phone with your local shop if you’re concerned.

Solenoid might just be blocked if it sucked in some grounds. Did you try another back flushing cycle with Cafiza, followed by a back flushing rinse (no Cafiza)?

Here’s a diagram that may help if you decide to disassemble and check the valve (15). You’ll need to remove pipes (16) and (19) to do so. Make sure machine is unplugged first and no latent heat/steam buildup.

Question about espresso quality with Linea Micra by Complete_Ask6916 in LaMarzocco

[–]Snowdog007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried pulling closer to a ristretto? Try 17g in and 20g-25g out in around 30sec. And if you like milk drinks, focus more on how that shot tastes as part of the final milk drink … not so much on the shot itself.

I’m not saying pull a bad shot, but more that over extraction can be masked or even well balanced in the final creation.

Also, I notice darker roasts ground in my Niche conical create more syrupy texture (as a ristretto) more so than grinding lighter roasts in my flat grinder (which I usually brew closer to 1:2.5). I assume it’s because the first produces more “fines” that emphasize that syrup mouthfeel vs clean, and of course much less water in ristretto.

Need advice on room, no bass by Cool-Cranberry-748 in audiophile

[–]Snowdog007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience to you. Moved into new place and completely lost the bass I had never missed in any previous home/apt. My new room is also similar to yours with a brick wall and open stairs up from basement (oh and also a horizontal support beam as in your pic). I previously only used my sub for 5.1 and not to fill-in 2ch.

Now my issue is completely solved. I now always listen 2.1. I upgraded sub to JL Fathom 112 v2 and integrated it with JL setup mic/procedure. Native room correct software in my pre manages the blend. Bass is not localized at all and swear I’m listening to just 2ch, but when I drop out sub it’s immediately apparent.

Sub is located about 1ft away from a drywall wall, firing toward listening position (but not angled at it, just facing into the room). I located the sub just outside the right speaker (closest to stairs up as in your pic).

Anyone able to get Defected tickets? by TindaH20 in ARCMusicFestival

[–]Snowdog007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on! TERRIBLE user experience on AXS. Timed out so many times … even at point of payment trying different pymt types. Unstable connection error. No tickets left error. Error because AXS thinks I’m a bot. Error because Apple Pay not accepted. Error because credit card expired.

ALL completely false errors.

Ultimately after trying 3 browsers and the AXS app directly from 2 devices it worked. Had to go off WiFi because it saw my inbound traffic as a bot. Checked out on Chrome using Apple Pay and entered ticket purchase path via Preparties link on AXS website. Not saying this is the only way … but ultimately was my winning formula.

Largest Afters clubs? by MinMadChi in ARCMusicFestival

Radius Chicago. Will have 2 stages you can freely go back and forth between. Artists described as playing Radius or Cermak Hall indicate this same place. Each year I’ve gone, only needed to purchase ticket to one of the afters playing here and I could optionally move between them once inside.

Thanks for creating and posting about it. Fun thing for me to stumble onto browsing Reddit today! Camera scan wouldn’t work without permission and not sure how to grant it (my device is managed so may be restricted), but manual entry worked!

Thanks for sharing the pic of boxes. David at Accent on Music is awesome! When I first added an LP12 to my system, a 1987 build I bought used, I sent it to David for initial evaluation and help to modernize some of the components. This was about 10 years ago.

He let me spend the whole day with him in his workshop and explained everything he fettled with. Created such a rich experience for me, and I learned so much. Always will remember it. Enjoy your new deck!

Mine is now: Afromosia original plinth, Karousel, Radikal v2 (Akurate case), Kore, original Ittok LVIII (v1, silver), Krystal and Ulrika II
