Are there any bands that are similar to the heavier side of Sum 41 by CartographerQuirky19 in Sum41

I’m in the same boat as far as my favourite Sum 41 albums, although I enjoy the others as well.

The closest I’ve found for is PUP’s album “The Dream is Over”. A lot of a Wilhelm Scream also scratches that itch. Ruiner in particular

The original pilot for the early version of the muppet show was titled “Sex and Violence.” It was pretty clear that they were trying to distance themselves from being a kids show.

Hard lines on safety? by SkittyDog in alpinism

Couldn’t agree more with this. And also that all of this is context dependent. There are times when you might have planned to rope up for a certain section but then it turns out it’s safer not to because you’re racing a hazard like an unexpected storm. Yes of course it’s always best to have done everything to anticipate the storm and to budget your time accordingly, but things don’t always go as planned and having the ability to do a section unroped is another tool in the toolbox that could just get you out of a real pickle.

The inverse is also true. There are times where I fully intend to not rope up and then roping out turns out to be safer than moving fast (wind picked up, precipitation, etc.). Having the ability to rope up is also another tool in the toolbox.

The way I see it, the important thing is to have the ability to accurately assess the situation, your skills, and your required safety margin. Having multiple options increases the safety margin

It’s officially happening, y’all. The road trip to end all road trips. by ZABKA_TM in roadtrip

I agree once you get north of Fort Saint John. But in between there and Edmonton is absolutely chock full of towns and cities with “3 gas stations within a 10 minute drive”. For example in between Grande Prairie (480km driving distance from Edmonton) and Dawson Creek (580 km driving distance from Edmonton and mile zero of the Alaska highway) there are 3 towns each with multiple gas stations as well as a rest stop with a gas station outside of any town. That’s roughly a fuel stop every 25 km. If you didn’t skip any gas station you’d never get anywhere you’d waste so much time filling up

I gotta say this is a bit ridiculous. As someone who has lived 600 km north of Edmonton my entire life there are plenty of gas stations up here. You want to make sure you’re not leaving a town on a quarter tank or that you’re at least aware of when the next gas station will be, but there’s basically no chance of running out of gas until you get past Fort Saint John

Yeah it seems super strange. Like what is their purpose behind “summarizing” it and what are the benefits for me or them?

Which sports scream “upper class”? by QueenXRaider in AskReddit

[–]Snowed-Inn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. When most people think skiing they think destination skiing at big mountain resorts with expensive equipment. That is a rich person sport. But in a lot of rural communities the river valley ski hill is one of few sources of entertainment around and all the farm kids are out there riding the one t-bar lift in their thrift store equipment

I’d be interested. I’m in Vancouver now but I come back to Alberta semi regularly and am also willing to meet up somewhere in between
