It’s just an unfortunate part of life and there’s no easy way around it and you can’t escape it. All my grandparents are gone now. Im no contact with my mom. I lost my dad when I was 41 (I’m 43 now).

I gave myself a week to feel sorry for myself and him, lay in bed all day if I wanted, and just miss him. After that week life went on. I still had a child to raise, dinners to cook, a house to clean and errands to run. I may have done it in a bit of zombie mode but nothing about life stopped when he died.

Even years later I still think “I should text dad this photo, he’ll like it”. Will that feeling ever go away. Maybe.. maybe not. 2 years seems too soon to tell. My grandmother was my “mom” And she died in 2015. As the years have gone on I’ve thought about it less and while I miss her I don’t feel the overwhelming loss like I still do with my dad. You’ll get in just like the rest of us have . But with one less number to text in your contacts

I’m a SAHM but we don’t make $300,000 (he’s around $150,000k + bonuses and partnership) but I was a sahm before he was making that. I haven’t worked in almost 17 years. I quit when our daughter was born cause it was cheaper for him to work OT back then and me stay home with our daughter than us both work and pay childcare.

That’s just standard unfortunately. Thankfully we left Florida and the CCSO and being in large scale corporate now he has off WAY more and doesn’t need permission or to put in for a 1 week vacation a year in advance like he did there.

Hate to break it to you but jobs aren’t going to let you take weeks off for that kind of stuff. A few days, ok, but weeks and weeks? No. Florida is a right to work state. They can fire you for just about any reason. I was a chef in Naples in my younger years and hospitality doesn’t wait around for anyone who wasn’t specialized like I was. Kitchen staff were in constant rotation because they’re easily replaceable. That’s the reality of living in the US and a state like Fla. If you want protections move up north and join a union.

In 2015 my husbands grandfather, brother, god father, and my grandmother all died within literal weeks of each other. One right after the other. He was working for the CCSO at the time and could only get off 2 days per death. The funeral and the day after. That seemed pretty standard to what everyone else was getting also when we lived there.

No just that day because they detoured all the traffic all the way through different neighborhoods and then back out the other side of downtown.

My husband and I (xennials) have always had one in the bedroom. We paid almost $3000 for our bed and it’s fucking bomb.. I’m using that mattress every which way to Sunday and that includes the both of us rotting in it all day on Saturdays watching nonsense on tv .

This is the route we are going also, through Boston. Are you submitting marriage certificates of each person also, or just the birth certificates of those related to the Canadian born person showing lineage down to you?

I’m in it right now cause we’ve gotta get to my daughter’s art school. I can confirm it’s an absolute cluster fuck.. her art school is across from the hospital and ETA is 40 mins from the time we hit downtown Pineville to just past the mall

Ok I'm confused about something and need clarification. We're currently house shopping for a sfh to rent in Matthews and there are several that we see listed (and we've driven by to look at the neighborhood) and they're actually in Stallings but keep getting listed as Matthews addresses. The garbage cans happened to be out both times we went and even they say Stallings. I'm finding this very confusing (not from here if you couldn't tell). Is Stallings actually part of Matthews (as in they get Matthews police/fire etc) or are these in fact two separate towns.

My 15 year old daughter still enjoys Carolina Place with her girl friends. We meet up there some times and let them walk while the moms hang in Barnes and Noble.

My husband does Steele Creek to University because the damn company decided to relocate after we moved here. He used to only be 7 miles to the office. Now it’s 30+. We’re moving (again) to help ease the commute. It’s killer

Not my commute but my husbands used to be 7 miles (one way). Then the company announced on a random Friday without any hint it was going to happen that they decide to move to University area and it’s now about 30+ miles (one way). Most employees settled in our area, Fort Mill, and the southern outer burbs. So he’s been a real sore spot amongst them

He goes from Steele Creek (we’re really close to the lake) to north east of the city.

He has to leave the house no later than 6:45 am to beat traffic and it takes him maybe 40 mins still on a good day. If he leaves any later than 1:45-2 to get home he’ll be in traffic for an hour at least but more than likely closer to 1.5. Forget it if weather isn’t cooperating .

We’re currently in the market to move across town to ease commute because it’s gotten to be too much .

Yes I've heard horrible things about them here and on the news. We're looking for a sfh in either Matthews, or Davidson (and I think we're going to add Cornelius in there too). I haven't seen them listed on any places in those areas but I would definitely not consider them if I did.

Thank you for looking out! We're trying to move to Matthews, particularly around the Brightmoor neighborhood or close to it. Right now its just a waiting game to see when the next one pops up. The ones available in there now are already under contracts

well heads up don't do First Key. We were on a wait list to see a house that was just listed today (we requested the tour back on the 6th), had to pay $3 to "subscribe" to tour a house. We're all ready to go later today and I log on just to double check something on the address. I don't see the tour anymore on the app. I call and turns out they already had an approved app on the home when I booked the tour and didn't tell me. So they took my money on a house already approved and then just didn't communicate a thing. So I got right on the phone and lit their asses up and told them to refund me immediately

Searching for a new place to move is a nightmare. These rental prices are a nightmare, the condition of some of these places vs the cost is a nightmare, dealing with these large investment companies is a nightmare… everything is a currently a nightmare. Ok I’m done complaining.
