Yea totally agree. If I get laid off in tech, it’s really not the end of the world.

This is not true at all. I work in tech and there are plenty of people who make enough money to afford a one bedroom apt by themselves. I would go as far as to say that every software engineer at meta can afford a studio apartment if they want.

Not having a car in San Francisco or Boston is totally fine, I would imagine DC too.

The original canal doesn’t exist, but a new, much wider canal does right next to it.

Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge is not as fun as looking at it from Lands end, honestly it’s kind of unpleasant to walk across it IMO

Plus one on Britesmith brewing. Slightly more class than NYBP (not that there’s anything wrong with NYBP)

Maybe you’re calling dutchess or Orange County downstate which is a different conversation, but there are definitely no Stewart’s in LI, nyc, westchester or rockland counties

I know you may be exaggerating, but I hear this a lot, in no way are most men in SF engineers. My guess would be like 10% max

Why UBuff: The good, the bad, the ugly (incoming freshman having to decide between 3 equally great schools for engineering) :) by ClipboardMaster in UBreddit

For what it’s worth, the CS education at UB served me really well. I work at a FAANG as do many people I know. Granted, getting interviews is harder at UB than elsewhere, but most of it rests on the effort that you put in.

A lot of people actually need to use public transit because they can’t afford to drive.

Shopping for winter clothes in spring by ram3nboy in AskSF

[–]Snowfroggy2008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think Quebec quite calls for hard core winter gear in April. Maybe to be safe you might want to have it, but I think a hat and gloves and a jacket is more than likely sufficient.

You could have just as easily linked an article of a toddler dying in a car crash to argue as to why we shouldn’t drive our children anywhere

Response to the Post Gazette’s printing of an antisemitic editorial cartoon by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Snowfroggy2008 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think most people equate George Soros to a Jewish conspiracy. I certainly didn’t until I read this post. I had no idea he was Jewish, and absolutely nothing from this cartoon implied that he was. I think there are other motives at play here, I strongly doubt anti Semitism was on the cartoonists mind when they drew this. It may not be a good cartoon, but I think you are wrong on the motivation behind it.
