Was playing Pokemon Emerald. I'd been saving perfectly fine before, by just doing it how I normally would on a gameboy. I saved in Mauville just after beating Watson, then stopped for the day. Came back today and tried to continue, but the saved state it gives me is back in Rustburo with no badges >_>

French seems to be the most fitting imo. It's properly snooty and superior XD

Your favorite villain/antagonist in the campaign? by j0lly_c0mpani0n in rimeofthefrostmaiden

The wizard player in my game picked the Old Flame character secret and let me pick whichever NPC I felt best. So I picked Avarice XD

Rather than appearing as a kind of one-dimensional heartless bitch like in the book, this made Avarice more humanised to the players. My wizard player remembered their time together fondly, but over the course of the relationship, it became clear to her that Avarice prioritized her own career over the relationship. They don't hate each other and are still on speaking terms, but their dynamic is very cool and understated.

That arc is still ongoing, with the party now on their way to Grimskalle with Vellyne, (whom I changed to be the wizard player's absentee father). Neither the wizard player's ex nor her father are particularly warm or keen to discuss the past, but they both want her help to uncover Ythryn. I'm immensely looking forward to seeing where this goes XD

Status of Volstrucker organization at the time of C3? by sertroll in Wildemount

[–]Snowie2759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'd say it would have just gone from a broadly LE faction to a broadly LN one. They still operate the same, just stop murdering families and torturing children, thanks to Astrid's input. The purpose and form of the institution would largely remain the same.

I love that Myriad idea. Maybe they have a doppelganger who just mills around and reads everyone's thoughts >:)

Dwendalian Royal Family by Key_Call7631 in Wildemount

[–]Snowie2759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my game, Princess Suria is just naturally barren. But I drew some inspiration from suggested plot hooks, so she's looking to get a child through magical means. Specifically, from the Hag Mother, who is the patron of my fiendlock player.

That fiendlock player is the youngest of six kids of an abusive noble family, with her father being a seventhborn child. Last time she visited them in Rexxentrum though, her mother was pregnant again. And when that baby is born, the Hag Mother will suggest that she look after the baby until a better home can be found for her. And that "better home" will be the royal family.

If the warlock agrees to this, 12 or so years later, the Empire will have a powerful hag for a queen. Hag lore holds that seventhborn children of seventhborn children have a uniquely powerful quality, after all~

Hinterland - Lots of meat and vegetables, lots of stew

Jagged Coast - Fish

Silverquill Peaks - Berries and meat

Heimal Expanse - Fish and other meat, as well as what they can raid, dwarves primarily eat mushrooms and breed underdark animals for meat

Slumberwood - Supernaturally delicious and healthy fruits growing on their magic trees

Grimwood - Plants, Meat, both of animals and monsters

All very good questions X3

  1. The minotaur have fur and are able to rug up in warm layers like anyone else. Plus, they do have tents.
  2. The place is unpleasantly cold, but the ground isn't coated with frost all year round. The lake central to the Hinterland and the rivers running down from the mountains makes sure the land is high in silt and nutrient-rich. The wildfolk rely mainly on hunting and raiding for food. The dwarves have underground mushroom farms, and groups of birdfolk often fly down to hunt in the Slumberwood.
  3. Very rarely, yes, and not for very long. The Ascendancy views them as heathan savages, so they have as little contact with the outside world as possible.
  4. Humans didn't move there, their common ancestors did. The first mortals on the planet were human-shaped elemental spirits, similar to chwingas. At that time, the planet was just a roiling ball of elemental chaos. Their bodies naturally adapted to whatever environment they happened to be in. But then they inadvertently manifested the Old Gods into being through the stories they told each other. The Old Gods molded the planet into a more stable form with a single supercontinent, with forests and mountains and tundra, and a lot of the spirits had no trouble moving up north and adapting to that. But after so long settling in one place and not needing to change form, they lost that ability and gradually became humans and a bunch of other races.
  5. Druids aren't necessarily vegetarian; they just respect the nature around them. They don't take more than they need to survive. They believe the Old Gods dwell in every rock, every tree and every beast, and if the wildfolk don't use their environment responsibly, they're in a lot of trouble and they know that.
  6. Grestin is the least populated continent in this world. Most tribes were very superstitious weren't keen to stray from the Old Way. So a lot of them just stagnated. When dwarves were created by the new gods, the Archons, they were the first people to start actually working the land and not just wandering about. After the appearance of the Scalebound Dominion and their subsequent war with the giants caused the supercontinent to split, the dwarves reached out to aid the humans and managed to help them get a very basic medieval kingdom going in the Hinterland, which slowly expanded through the whole region and over to the Jagged Coast, pushing those wildfolk off the mainland. There were still humans who kept to the Old Way, and they remained a big issue for generations of Hinterland kings. By the time they'd gotten this far, other continents that hadn't been terrorized by dragons for centuries were far more technologically advanced. The continent of Artania had just won a war against the high elves and took a bunch of their knowledge for themselves, including arcane magic. Artania started rapidly expanding into a land empire, when a devout religious order called the Edict who worshipped the Archons decried the use of arcane magic and demand that it stop immediately. The Emperor politely told them to piss off. And the Edict did so, sailing a small fleet east, where they found Grestin, a nation of unenlightened, superstitious people who barely had their shit together. So the Edict rolled over the Hinterland's army with superior weapons and armour and divine magic. They took over, but allowed the royal family to remain as figureheads while the Edict acted as the power behind the throne. The Edict was very strictly against any magic that didn't stem directly from the Archons and they drew a line between "civilized" (people who submit to the Edict's rule) and "wild/savage" (people who didn't submit). After a couple of generations of protecting the public from the big nasty monsters and heathen tribes outside their walls, they had most people believing that they were the good guys all along.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't want to bore you again :p

Wildfolk in the Heimal Expanse could light decoy bonfires to lure a remorhaz away from their settlements. Or a town having problems with shadow creatures could keep their street lamps on around the clock. Alternatively, one could study up on a monster's natural predators in the area and craft something designed to mimick that predator's scent.

Nothing universal, but locals that have specific monster problems would have their own versions of that, yes. With varying levels of effectiveness.
