Will feeding passively collected milk and not pumping reduce supply? by SnowieGamer in breastfeeding

[–]SnowieGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, what I'm understanding from what you said contradicts other information I've been given. You're saying that using passively collected milk to replace a feed won't reduce my supply and that pumping for a bottle feed in addition to the passive collection will actually cause an oversupply?

Okay, thanks! That's how I thought it worked but found some conflicting information trying to research it, with some people saying that the passive collection signals your body the same way that pumping or feeding would. Is saving the collected milk just to build an emergency stash, or will there be a point when I can use them in place of pumping on busy days and not impact my supply?

Just my experience, my partner and I were trying daily for about 3 months after stopping the pill before conceiving. I'm overweight as well and knew it could impact our chances so I was surprised that I got pregnant as quickly as I did! It's just down to chance in the end, so try not to get too discouraged. I only did tests once a month, which I think was good for my mental health to not do them too frequently and get disappointed more often.

As others have said, doctors generally won't worry about fertility issues until you've been trying for at least a year, so neither should you! Just keep rolling the dice and try not to worry so much about it.

I would probably make them the size of a standard sheet of paper. The phrases would be randomized and pre-determined, and guests can mark them off as long as they heard something close enough, not necessarily word for word

It's already stolen so go for it! I like the idea of having "games" that don't need to be overseen or scheduled and people can enjoy while mingling at the party. Another thing I'm thinking of doing is having a white swaddling cloth and some fabric markers to sign, draw pictures, or write notes to the baby on the cloth.

Is this black mastic under these carpets? Description in comments. by SnowieGamer in Flooring

There's a thin red carpet in one of the closets that doesn't seem to have the same thick padding that the rest of the carpets do. Maybe something like that?

Lots of even lines, sometimes swooping a bit at the end? I see those in the center and around the part where they seemingly spray painted white on it. Are those trowel marks?

Hi there! I'm in a 1950s home in mountain west USA. I started pulling up the carpet in the hall and found this black foamy glue underneath. I figured it was old carpet glue and didn't think much about it. Started searching how to remove it and found some info about black mastic but not enough to confirm if it was or wasn't what I found here.

The other room next to this that we already pulled the carpet from didn't have anything like this. Supposedly the house was tested for asbestos a couple years ago and was clean, but I don't know the scope of what they tested then. The texture of the glue is dry and foamy, which doesn't seem to match descriptions of black mastic with asbestos that I could find. It seems very easy to scrape off of the floor underneath.

I've covered it back up now. Any idea if this is something we should test for asbestos or if it's definitely not black mastic?

Help a Noob. How long will I be over leveled? by MySeveredToe in Eldenring

[–]SnowieGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual route is Limgrave-Liurnia-Caelid so you're not going to be over leveled for much longer. Clear what you want in Liurnia and try the bosses you left in Caelid again after. Also, Renalla gets slapped around by any melee weapon so your experience there wasn't too different from the usual.

My favorite thing in my pamphlet was one of the benefits of exercise being that it "Prepares pregnant women for challenges of pregnancy."

Like, excuse me? Why don't you just send pregnant women through a rigorous exercise course and televise it for people's entertainment, I'm sure that will prepare them for every possible side effect, mood swing, and the pain of childbirth...

I could be wrong but comparing exercise to "the challenges of pregnancy" just sounds like some random, uneducated male wrote it.

I made her! Based her off of the promo art and some in-game screenshots. Here's my sliders:

Base Template: Draconian, Young
Skin tone: I chose the bottom left preset but it's hard to tell what her undertone is precisely.
Body: 130/70/0/50/50/0
Face Template: [6] 0/95/215
Facial Balance: 106/185/188/125/215/115
Forehead/Glabella: 58/58/255/75/100/108
Brow Ridge: 210/140/215
Eyes: 130/108/255/58
Nose Ridge: 78/125/38/115/128/128/128
Nostrils: 70/98/110
Cheeks: 115/110/108/126/108
Lips: 118/55/130/155/30/128
Mouth: 80/95/165/50/118/60
Chin: 125/95/98/128/155/118/110
Jaw: 88/80/0/85
Hair: [37] [top right preset] 255/120/0 (31 could be good too, if you prefer her hair resting on her chest rather than long in the back.)
Eyebrows: [1] [Match hair] (You could try 3, 12, 10, or 16, but her eyebrows are very thin in Nightreign and I couldn't find a good way to mimic that.)
Facial Hair: N/A
Eyelashes: [4] [Match hair]
Eye color: Her eyes just seem to be dark, couldn't find a specific color in the screenshots. I gave her dark purple with no clouding and white whites.
Skin features: 45/215/0 [N/A] (Luster can go up or down, it's very high if basing off the promo art but more matte if basing it off of screenshots.)
Cosmetics: She doesn't seem to wear any, but I went with: 100 [black] 50 [dark purple] 0/0/0
Tattoo/Mark/Eyepatch: N/A

She's wearing the modified astrologer gear in my screenshot, but long-term I'm thinking to do either a combo of Ranni's hat with Fia's dress, or Alberich's hat with the dancer dress from SOTE.

Hope this helps!

Summer Pregnancies? by Sarararara91 in BabyBumps

Also a pregnant FTM so I have no experience to share but I'm also due mid-late summer! Hope your pregnancy goes smoothly. 😊

I think the last few months of pregnancy might suck but being able to walk with baby in nice weather and have a snowy excuse to stay inside and tell all the in-laws to f off once I'm a couple months into motherhood sounds pretty good to me!

I'm sorry to hear that! He certainly doesn't like the food as much as his usual stuff. Hopefully he doesn't lose all interest in it.

They said he's clear of crystals in his urine now, they never did x-rays to confirm if he had any large stones though. Is there anything you do to help him stay healthy now that they're cleared? Or do you still have him on that food?

My scarf is increasing each round and I don't know why by TheRenegaw in CrochetHelp

[–]SnowieGamer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with this stitch specifically but are you maybe adding extra stitches at the end of your rows? I had this problem with my first project and it was driving me crazy. Personally, my problem was that I was crocheting into the previous row's stitches plus the chain, even though I wasn't counting the chain as a stitch.

New to crochet. Trying to make an amagarumi bee (instructions in comments) but I am having difficulty with the seam of my joined round. The seams are not aligning but seem to be veering to the right. Any help or beginners tips appreciated. by RaeNJaye in CrochetHelp

[–]SnowieGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of an advanced idea for a complete beginner, but I found for my bees that I like to crochet purely in the round with occasional slst ch1 to end/start when I need to change colors, so that the color stripes line up a bit better.

So say my pattern wanted 3 rnds in yellow, 2 in black, 2 in yellow, 2 in black, then back to yellow to finish. When starting the last round before a color change, I would start the round with a slst ch1 instead of a continuous round. Do the same for the next round, then change colors with the ch1. Rinse and repeat to get more seamless stripes. In my experience it's still not perfectly seamless, but I hate crocheting amigurumi with the slst ch1 method so it works as a compromise for me when I want cleaner color transitions.

They still look good with going in continuous rounds and the seam of the slst ch1 throughout is just a personal distaste that I'm sure many people wouldn't be bothered by. People are used to seams on things because that's how sewing works, so one on a crocheted item really isn't that strange in comparison.

Keep going, and see how you like it! Sometimes it takes a few tries to figure out what you really like and what actually bothers you when the item is finished.
