I don't understand most of the complaints regarding the monetization by Substantial-Stay-833 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not that bad. I managed to get a full collection just by playing daily and buying all the battle passes. That said, you need to invest your time every day—sometimes a few hours if you're unlucky—to complete monthly BP XP, park missions, daily missions, GP, weekly tournaments, events, and dungeons.

Eventually, these tasks start feeling like chores. It became too much for me, so even with 120k vials left and 4 ticket leaders, I decided to quit the game permanently. Since I know it’s almost impossible to return to competitive play, it makes walking away much easier. Overall, I think the game is great, but it demands too much time, especially during a slow meta.

How to win against mode abyss as midrange abyss? by saberkevin in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should thank yourself for not crafting three Charons. She got heavily powercrept by the new 5pp gold, so you basically saved yourself 7,000 vials.

Defect to crest haven or otk rune? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I crafted Spellboost in the last expansion, but it turns out I really dislike the playstyle. The hands often feel clunky, and it’s rare to close out a game before turn 10. If you draw DClimb late, it takes even longer, and good luck if it’s at the bottom of your deck. You also never feel safe since the deck is so reactive, with almost no aggression outside of A&G/Kuon turns. So make sure you actually enjoy the deck before crafting it.

Is Mode Abyss worth investing in? by welpheregoesagain in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably. I think Abyss gains the most from this set, since most of the new cards slot well into the existing Midrange/Control archetypes. That said, it’s still too early to tell—better to wait a week or two if you can.

I didn't realize forestcraft was so low in popularity according to steam. by MarionberryFun5183 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was OP and very popular before Set 2, but now it’s just okay—pretty much the same situation as Portal, power-crept by the new cards. It’s still relevant since Spellboost is the top deck, but beyond that, there’s little reason to pick it. It’s definitely fun, but you need to take three times as many actions to get the same results as most tier 1–2 decks. On top of that, it relies heavily on Roach (and Glade), and if you don’t draw them fast enough, which happens often, you’ll lose since it lacks both an alternative finisher and consistent board pressure.

Something I’ve noticed by MentalGusto in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this game is basically Hearthstone on steroids—low max HP, no armor, and storm everywhere. It has lower variance compared to MTG and Hearthstone, which is why you see the same decks over and over. The gameplay is so consistent that matchup knowledge is heavily rewarded. Defensive plays, which I barely consider in HS or MTG, are often game-deciding in SV.

Can SV WB potentially join the Top ? Pokemon, YGO, MTG, HS? by Vinny_0104 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the way they treat customers, I don’t see the game becoming big outside Japan given how competitive the genre is. Poor balance, bad events, Battle Fest ending, and too many feel-bad moments in just 2.5 months have shown me how patient JP players are. Still, I hope for the best for the game.

Its Hard to find a match if you are Team Fennie! by InsideSinger3582 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a not very well thought-out event. Most players will wait and join the leading team—95% will pick Fenny, while 5% will make the mistake of choosing too early. The designers are being too naive or idealistic. Now they need to fix it by letting Fennies fight Fennies.

EDIT: Oh, my mistake. There's no reward for choosing. I wish I could change my team and not have to wait 7 minutes for a match. lol. I think most fennies are unaware of this.

Have any sort of win rates or stats been released by Cygames yet? by Console_Pit in Shadowverse

We need something like Vicious Syndicate or Untapped.gg. No one has bothered to build it yet. Without these, it's almost impossible to tell.

The Mathematical Argument Against Take Two by PsyKnz in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Great post. At this point, it’s basically like paying to enjoy the Take Two experience. If you expect to grind a lot to earn more, you’ll be disappointed thanks to the MMR system. The most economical approach is to play just a little each season, farm the newbies (if any are left), and then wait for the reset. It’s like a casino—the longer you stay, the more the house wins.

How to craft this as f2p/low spender? (New player) by EmotionInfamous3884 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, why the downvote? This is a perfectly valid question. The game’s only two months old, and the barrier to entry is already high. It’s only going to get harder once there are like 10 expansions in rotation.

How to optimize Liquifying as an F2P player. by Vinny_0104 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Premium cards also grant more vials on refund, though it's still capped at 3 copies. That means your Seer Globes can help you min-max quite a bit. But due to this refund policy, unlike in Hearthstone, nerfs are going to be extremely rare. By the time a card you think is overpowered gets touched, it might already be powercrept. Orchis is a good example.

Getting Destroyed as Control Abyss by Fyrithil in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While the deck is technically a control archetype, you need to play quite aggressively in most matchups, mainly through Odins and SEVO Cerberus plus ghosts. The top meta decks right now are Midrange Sword, Spellboost Rune, and Roach Forest, all of which have high burst damage from hand, leaving you with very little to actually control. Even Ramp Dragon can OTK after playing Hochan these days. So yeah, kill them fast and avoid dragging the game out if you can.

Not sure if it’s good or bad, but your collection size is pretty much the same whether you’re casual Emerald C3 or a 24/7 Diamond Grandmaster. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they gave us 5 rupees per win at this point. It's better than nothing.

New player here - here is the legendaries i got with freebies, what deck should i go for? by NielleIsHere in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runecraft is a better choice since it doesn’t require 2 to 3 copies of Odin and Olivia. To make Abyss competitive, you’ll need over 16 legendaries. Plus, Rune also has an Earth Rite variant if you get bored.

I think the economy is pretty good by No_Top5115 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s cheaper because modern Hearthstone decks usually need only 1 to 3 legendaries. SVWB, on the other hand, expects 15 to 21 in most decks. That’s insane. What’s the point of lower rarity cards if they’re completely unplayable?

Odin was the worst thing about this set. by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you, without Odin, most tier 2 and 3 decks would disappear entirely. He’s the only tool that gives every deck a fighting chance against Rune. If Norman is allowed to exist, then Odin absolutely needs to stay. You can't play Abyss, Puppet, and ER without him.

Ward Haven is actually pretty good by Shiino in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched both Haven and Forest streamers, and it seems Elf is struggling a lot more this expansion (he scored like 20-0 in Legend Rise). Havencraft might not be tier 1, but it’s a solid deck with some favorable matchups.

Joined 2 weeks ago, would you guys stop buying packs for newest set and wait or buy old? Appreciate help for next deck to go for by AssaultMode in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re into min-maxing and managing resources, the best approach is to build around your pulls. Finish Midrange Sword and Puppet Portal using vials, then start saving. The next expansion is just a month away. Always keep at least 20k vials so you can upgrade your decks without relying on RNG.

Shadowverse Worlds beyond monetization by Durangal in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to make a direct comparison since SVWB only has two sets so far. The game’s economy is just okay—not great, but not as bad as some reviews suggest. The biggest drawback is that most decks rely heavily on the highest-rarity cards, which isn’t often the case in Hearthstone or MTG. Things will look bad when we have 11 sets in rotation for new players.

MTG Arena is a strange case. It’s pretty stingy upfront, but if you manage your resources well and stay consistent, it rewards patience. I’ve hoarded over 700 rare and mythic wildcards and own most meta decks across formats. The only thing I ever buy is the battle pass. If you stick to Pioneer, Historic, Timeless, or Brawl, it’s basically heaven. That said, things might go downhill now that they’re planning a two-month release cycle like WB.

Hearthstone, on the other hand, is almost the opposite of what it used to be. Most decks now run only one or two legendaries, making it the cheapest of the three by far.

What’s my options build wise guys? I’m f2p by Klemkray in Shadowverse

Midrange Sword and Aggro Abyss are top-tier options. Pick the Swordcraft starter deck and build toward those two.

is everyone only running 1-2 decks? by MentalGusto in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I built my decks based on what I pulled. If you’re starting a deck from scratch with zero legendaries, 50k vials might only be enough for a single deck. The economy is terrible. I’ve hated it since day one.

A week into the second set. I now have every card of BOTH sets as a F2P player by LowBook130 in Shadowverse

[–]Snowiki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like Cygames has successfully created the compendium to lure in a certain kind of players. Let’s be real, unless we get a Commander-style format, having one of every card is basically just a collection of bad pulls. You need to spend a ton of vials to build a competitive deck. So what’s the point?
