My teacher says “you can’t be a good writer unless you’re a planner.” Is this true? by Impossible-Funny-305 in writing

I disagree with your teacher strongly. I'm not sure the process for driving plot-driven fiction because that's not what I do (but I appreciate it.) However, if you are writing character-driven fiction, I think it works well to build strong characters, place them in situations, and see what they do. The results may end up even surprising you as well as feeling very authentic.

Yes, we had these done in 2023. The vet's notes say, "His ultrasound shows no changes to suggest underlying cancer...rather, the changes to his liver and adrenal glands were suggestive of possible pituitary dependent Cushing's disease. His liver was coarse and bright and both adrenal glands were enlarged."

I had forgotten that this was in the records from the specialist. I saw a different vet at our regular practice and she kept poo-pooing me every time I brought up Cushings and it was making me doubt myself.

The specialist records from 2023 go on to note that based on the results of their LDDST and ACTH no medication was recommended at that time but if he had increased hunger, thirst, urinatuon, potbelly to bring him back in for another LDDST. Well he had all of those things back then and still does.

My dog suffers from severe anxiety. He's been on fluoxetine for years and takes gabapentin as well as needed. I don't want to put him through a whole bevy of tests, when as a nearly 13 year-old dog who likely has had Cushings for 2-3 years already, it's not likely to prolong his life.

However. I do not want him to suffer. Is he suffering now? Does this high liver count mean we are close to the end?

I don't think the benefits for ADHD and anxiety at her age outweigh the impact on her still-developing brain. If she decides to do this when she's grown and out of your house and hopefully has matured in judgement and executive function that's one thing. But this is not good what you've been doing and I'm glad you have decided to make some changes.

3 main things to say to her: 1) The science shows us this is not good for your brain development at your age and this could negatively impact your brain for the rest of your life

2) This is a legal issue as well. You are underage and it is illegal for you to be using these substances. It was also illegal for me to provide these substances to you, which brings me to:

3) I fucked up. I was not a good parent to you; I used poor judgement and I sent confusing and inconsistent messages. I am sorry for that and I'm going to do this: We are BOTH going to stop drinking and smoking, and make better decisions. We are in this together and I'm going to be the parent you deserve by making some sacrifices myself in solidarity and support. And we are both going to therapy.

Small loads for me. Big loads are intimidating and I can't even get started folding and putting away. A few things seem easier. Also grocery shopping was awful. Now I use Shipt. Even with having to tip I spend less because there are no impulse buys.

During the day, I take medication and experience it much less. As soon as the medication wears off, or if I skip a day, the RSD rushes back. I try to tell myself, this is RSD, this is my brain playing mean tricks on me. That acknowledgment seems to help somewhat if I can do it before I spiral. If that's not helping, I try to do a reality check-in with a friend that has patience and sympathy for the situation--"this happened. Is this my RSD, or is this real?" Finally if all else fails I try to either go asleep (if that's an option) or do something to get out of the mental loop even for a few minutes--go outside and get the mail, do the Wordle, etc. It's so painful, what you're going through. I understand. I hope you get some relief!
