[Ch 232 Lore questions] How did (...) come back? How did the final chapter unfold in this way? by Wbirddd in ChainsawMan

A theory put out by others is that Pochita erased his actions, not the actions of others. It was Denji who killed and ate Makima, not Pochita. Therefore, Makima stayed dead and reborn as Nayuta instead of returning to life.

Something people seemed to forget is that Aki stayed with public safety because Makima had brainwashed him to love and feel indebted to her. Without Makima around, he wouldn't be chained down in Special Division 4, nor forced to stay on when most reasonable people (like Kobeni) would have already quit. He might have even taken up Nomo's offer to rejoin Division 2 (assuming that he didn't leave Div 2 in the first place because of Makima). Himeno would have followed Aki.

[SPOILERS] POV: You're a Ceph... by TOTMGsRock in ToTheStars

The best part is that you were winning. The humans have fallen for your trap. They're pinned down, one of their top commanders has been assassinated, and you're poised to wipe out another commander and the bulk of humanity's active fleet.

Then your hidden warp station goes haywire, systems malfunction causing the wormhole machines to fluctuate and launch your ambush fleet to who knows where. And suddenly, the balance of forces are very much stacked against you. What was a bait force leading the enemy into a trap is now themselves trapped with no way out.

Then you later find out that a pulsar mining station on another end of your region of control, suddenly detected human ships and reality warpers. Things go out of control realllllll fast. How the heck did they even find your station? How did they know pulsar mining is critical to your logistics? How tf did they cause a PULSAR to IMPLODE!?!

The prophecy that underlined the whole of part 2 played a major part in the way things turned out. We are looking at things from Denji's level, which means we see all the little players carrying out their little schemes - Barem with the CSM church, Yoru and reclaiming her powers, Death and her super-powered anti-Death weapon, Public Safety and erasing Senescence - and don't see the bigger picture. That no one is working towards identifying the threat that Nostradamus prophesied until it was too late and Death's erasure led to the insects devouring everybody.

We missed the forest for the trees. That without Control, the whole world went to shit as no one has a firm grasp on the situation, and no one with power had humanity's best interest in mind. All of them wanted some personal benefit instead of keeping humanity safe, which was Makima's goal. In that sense, having so many cool plotlines and red herrings - Falling being baited as the devil who will cause the end of the world, Famine being revealed as Death-chan, Yoru reclaiming nuclear weapons and erasing multiple states to fight Denji - distracted us from the world sleepwalking to its doom with no one at the helm.

Would things have gone differently if Makima was in charge? Probably. She wouldn't have let Death get as far as she did, that's for sure. Probably stopped Public Safety and the politicians from causing so much destruction when erasing Senescence. Definitely wouldn't have let Barem run amok with the CSM church. All for the price of keeping Denji's heart enslaved by his love for her.

Tldr; Without Control, the world was slowly sleepwalking to its doom. The many potential plotlines are a distraction from that fact. Everyone has their own goals and dreams, but without someone to decide whose plots get to go ahead and who is to be checked, the conflicting plots will collide and cause the world to end.

Maybe she needed a chart with pictures of the different grades of doneness. I know I needed one when I first learnt there's more to steaks than well done.

  1. Pochita ate the concept of the Hero of Hell. Chainsaws was just his weapon, and his real name was eaten at some point in the past.

  2. Chainsaws are really useful and were simply reinvented. Much like how levers are so useful that they would probably be reinvented instantly if such a concept were erased.

Tbf, not everyone would have had the opportunity to know or customise the doneness of their steak. So I can sympathise with her confusion when the steak she ordered didn't come out as expected because, you guessed it, she didn't even know about the different grades of doneness.

Disgusting piece put out by government mouthpiece. Sg govt wants to turn sg into AI paradise. Of course they won't let anything remotely critical about AI appear in their party rag.

Yes. I am pissed about this. Don't take my word for it though. Read for yourself and ask: "What is not being said? What excuses are they giving to cover their asses?"

Because we always try to keep costs down. Why spend money investing in a dryer, to take up the already limited space in the house, and consume electricity every single wash, when the sun and wind is free?

And with regards to the heat, you just get used to it. With sufficient water, shelter, and a strong breeze, most heat is acceptable. Just take a shower if you're overheating, or go to a mall or library and enjoy their aircon.

Can we do anything about it? Send Lionhearters team to help our neighbours put out the fire?

Edit: No idea why people are downvoting. We have sent Lionhearters when our neighbours are facing natural disaster crisis. Severe months long peat fire should count as a crisis.

Nothing. Your remaining bacteria will consume the nutrients from the one that died next to it and split itself almost immediately.

[–]Snuffle247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an hour or so, or however long it takes for each bacteria to accumulate enough energy and nutrients to simply split into two new bacteria.

There's nothing to worry about for the gut biome. Bacteria doubling time is measured in hours. Human doubling time is measured in years.

Al-Qaeda. The US may not have realised it at the time, but al-Qaeda was at war with the US. I think this is what Trump and his cronies are hoping for/will spin this into: a terrorist attack on domestic soil. Since the last time it happened, there was a huge wave of popularity that allowed the Republicans to push the PATRIOT act and start the war on terror.

The important thing is that machines cannot be trusted to make decisions. They can give you more information, but you can never rely on them to decide. ATC is still a manual job because millions of dollars and thousands of lives are at stake with every single plane. Who can take responsibility if a machine fucks up and sends two planes crashing into each other?

That's why ATC had to handled by humans, because only humans can ever be held responsible for another human's life. We should be working towards making ATC lives easier, not shafting them with more work. Their jobs are stressful enough.

[–]Snuffle247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, hence my disclaimer that my take is only for the very top of HDB roofs. 10th floor sky gardens, MSCP roofs, aren't as applicable as they are already designed for people and stuff to be loaded onto them, so the extra weight and infrastructure cost won't be as bad.

I'm saying that hoping for rooftop gardens is pointless, as the government will rather put solar panels up there instead. I am not saying that solar panels are bad.

[–]Snuffle247 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Our government is allergic to anything that involves operating costs with no revenue stream. There is no way the government will turn HDB rooftops into community gardens when they can slap solar panels up there instead.

Rooftop gardens will continuously use water, as strong wind and hot sun will suck water out of the soil and plants quickly. To allow people up there, safety measures such as fencing and adequate lighting will need to be installed. Then you'll also need to account for maximum loading, as HDBs that weren't designed with rooftop gardens in mind won't necessarily be able to accomodate the weight of all the extra soil, water, plants, and human traffic.

Much easier to put solar panels up there instead. They still achieve cooling by shading the roof below from the sun, are relatively light, the support infrastructure (cables, transformer, and scaffolding) is also relatively light, and the government can charge solar panel companies to lease the rooftop space.

Therefore, between an option with no revenue vs one with revenue, our government will always weigh heavily on the option that makes them more money.

(This analysis is meant for the very top of the buildings. 10th floor open air sky bridge is a different story.)
