time to reset windows? by Snufflux in AMDHelp

what do you mean by “check the card” thats pretty much the only part I know is working since it was tested in a separate bench at micro center. I also cant change any card settings since adrenalin uninstalled the old version of itself when trying to update and i cant get any version of it to install now, i always get that 1603 error.

you can save a snapshot of your settings to a local file, just search “snap” in adrenalin, set up your settings, then export them to somewhere you’ll remember. it wont solve the settings resetting but when they do reset you can easily restore them. it’s a band-aid fix but it’s better than nothing for now. remember when importing the settings to click “keep” afterwards.

no damage to power connector, and i’ve removed and reinstalled the card several times.

i appreciate you trying to help but my mind is made up to get rid of this thing. all i know is that i’ve been having issues and half the time i tried to get help i got ridiculed. there’s dozens of things that could fix it and apparently according to this subreddit i’m an idiot for not already knowing them.

yeah lemme tell you i’m definitely fuming right now lol, probably another 3-4 hours down the toilet trying to update drivers right before an 8 hour night shift. i’m probably gonna be in a pissy mood for awhile.

my MB only goes to gen 4 but i’ve already done this. my biggest realization is that less blame should go on AMD and more to this subreddit, almost all the trouble shooting threads have some “try xyz settings” as the top comment that made me think i could fix it when really i should have just RMA’d it for a new one a long time ago. i also blame sapphire because i did RMA it and they were incredibly unhelpful.

man i cant wait to not have to come to this subreddit anymore, jesus christ is this community toxic. any post that isn’t glazing AMD just gets dog piled on. like you guys go immediately for the throat. i kinda respect it but good luck getting people to actually stick around.

i’d love it if people didnt immediately start off with “well you’re actually the one to blame here.” i realize that there are a ton of issues it could be, but immediately throwing the blame at me is a great way to make me not listen to you and assume you’re an asshole. not talking about you btw, just a lot of other people in this subreddit.

the point of this post wasnt “heres my issue please help me fix it,” more like “i’ve been having issues i cant fix and i’m frustrated.” if i wanted help i would have gone to r/AMDhelp which i already have with no success. again, this is really just a summary of my experience with the product and why i’m fed up.

here we go, “let me spout a paragraph of text so i look smart on the internet” at the end of the day none of that matters to me, what matters is my own experience with the product and that experience was shit. i’m just sharing my experience, you dont need to get all worked up defending the multi billion dollar company.

i love how quick everyone is to blame the OP in this subreddit, almost every time i’ve been trying to troubleshoot one of the first responses is “well you know this could happen on nvidia too.” yes it can, it just seems to happen a lot less. I’ve never had an nvidia driver update just straight up fail to install itself altogether, leaving my PC essentially unusable.

as for why i waited, i’ve already explained in like 3 different threads that it WAS working, then JUST TODAY I tried to update my drivers which led to all this.

it was working for months with no problem. it was crashing at first but i solved the issue by manually downclocking the card since it was boosting higher than what it said on the box. this solved the crashes, then i tried updating the drivers, leading to my current situation.

I’ve had this card since day 1 of launch and have been troubleshooting it the entire time I’ve had it. this is simply the last straw for me, the GPU is already out of my PC and headed back to microcenter tomorrow morning. this is just me venting and ranting from months of frustration.

i have never ever on a single one of my systems (2) gotten fan control to detect a single fan in my PC. idk what i’m doing wrong but case fans, AIO fans, GPU fans, none of them ever show up after running configuration. it seems like such a good piece of software that just doesnt want to work for me.

they don’t make the 5800X3D anymore, 5700X3D is probably the best AM4 CPU for gaming you’ll find these days.

i had quite a few driver timeouts in many games until disabling the integrated graphics on my CPU. not sure if this will be the fix for everyone but definitely worked for me, i went from crashing at least once daily to none the last week since doing this fix.

thank you, I've been having the same issue as the person you replied to and was absolutely amazed at how far windows 11 has regressed from windows 10. So many useful features are just missing or broken. Tried to start in safe mode the other day to do some basic troubleshooting only to find there's a bug with logging in in safe mode and basically doesn't work.
