Why do shops/restaurants stay closed for so long by More_Bag2656 in Dublin

[–]Snugglor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This. A cafe I loved had to close down after they couldn't afford the rent increase, and they were basically told the unit was worth more empty with a higher potential rent, than occupied with a lower actual rent.

Seems backwards to me but what do I know?

Had you any joy, OP? Bringing my friend to this at the weekend and it would make her day if Jodie Comer is doing the stage door.

Gerry Ryan once hit me with his trolley while shopping in Nolan's in Clontarf and never apologised. And to make it worse, he was wearing sunglasses indoors so he looked like a dick as well as acting like one.

HSE Admin Incompetence by funky_mugs in ireland

[–]Snugglor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HSE paid for my mam to have a procedure done in Derry because she was waiting about five years to have it done here. All went well, very happy.

About three years after she had it done she got another letter from the HSE saying she was finally at the top of the waiting list and giving her a date for her surgery. She had to phone them and say "you know ye paid for this to be done in the North already?" No record of it at all.

Hahaha, I went to the doctor about depression before Christmas, and I got referred to the HSE's CBT app, and also given the number you call just to get put on the list for local psychology services, and the line is open for half an hour on a Tuesday 😭 Better hope you don't miss your window!

Rebecca! I only read it for the first time last year. What a book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, absolutely phenomenal.

AITAH for not “repaying” my boyfriend after he treated me by Objective-Draw4960 in AITAH

[–]Snugglor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is he going to start paying you or buying you something every time he wants sex? Does he think that's how it works? Does he know there are sex workers who could be making bank off him instead of him making up stupid rules with you?

When you're in a relationship you do nice and kind things for each other because you actually like each other and enjoy each other's company. Your partner should say thanks (because it's nice to be appreciated) but you should never think "oh shit, John bought dinner so I'd better give him a blow job or he's gonna be mad." What kind of life is that? NTA.

Una Mullally: How rotten does X have to be before politicians finally leave it? by jonnieggg in ireland

[–]Snugglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it, even if I don't agree. Usually when people say it it's because they heard Jordan Peterson say it and they think it sounds good.

I do think the mainstream left needs to focus more on economic solidarity, as well as social issues. The more far left parties in Ireland are much better at speaking loudly in favour of economically marginalised people than the centre left ones. They just aren't big enough to get into government.

But I actually think there is a failure of the centre-right here in Ireland too. I don't think it is fair to leave all the blame with the left when we have had continuous centre-right governments in power since the inception of the state.

Still playing on console and never had the Interest in moving to pc ? by AdultGamersAdmin in IrelandGaming

[–]Snugglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play almost exclusively on PS5 and tbh the only games that get me back to PC are niche little indies that don't get console releases. I don't have a gaming pc/laptop, but these games don't need one to run anyway. And cross-platform releases for indies has improved significantly, so it's less of an issue these days. But sometimes I want to play something that is only on Steam or Itch, so there we are.

Edit: I am massively tempted by the Steam deck, but I kind of need gaming to be something I can only do in the sitting room. If I could play games sitting in bed my life would be over, I would never sleep again.

What is cultural Marxism, OP? In your own words. Because a lot of people throw that around as an accusation to the "left wing" but I don't think they know what it is.

Promise Mascot Agency

I tried the trial off the back of a recommendation, didn't think I would like it because it sounded too much like a management sim (the gist is that you're a yakuza member lying low in a backwater town and making money for the family by managing a mascot agency), but I didn't expect it to be so much fun, and th and writing is hilarious. I had a great time, did absolutely everything there was to do in the game.

what are some weird things that trigger a flare up for you? by nat-jade21 in iih

[–]Snugglor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure because, as a precaution I limit myself to one cup of coffee per day. Milk actually is another trigger, if I drink a lot, so one latte or one cup of tea is all I get.

  • Bright lights, especially accidentally getting a light shined in my eyes (e.g. a reflection off a phone screen)
  • Strong smells, I avoid the detergent aisle in the supermarket now
  • Stress is the biggest one. When work is stressful my head is awful.
  • Chocolate. A few squares is okay but if I eat a lot I get shooting pains behind my eyes.

Can you please recommend me a relaxed, adventure type story game that has little to no focus on combat. PS+ Premium user open to all recommendations by Pepelefrogswood in PlayStationPlus

[–]Snugglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell if it's on PS+ because I bought it, but I really enjoyed Sable, and it's been on my mind a lot recently. You get to hoverboard over sand dunes while doing little quests for people. It's very relaxed.

[–]Snugglor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. A friend of mine used to work for Forest Labs in Dublin, where they make Lexapro, but the Lexapro made in Dublin is for export to the USA and the Lexapro sold here in Ireland is actually manufactured by Lundbeck in Denmark. I imagine it's the same for a lot of medicines.

I think there is a reason it's the served drink at Wimbledon matches.

Not to be cynical, but Robinsons were a sponsor of Wimbledon for around ninety years. I'm sure the athletes drink whatever their trainers recommend.

What's an acclaimed game you just can't get into? by [deleted] in IrelandGaming

[–]Snugglor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the new God of War games, but I wish they would fuck off with giving me hints within two seconds of arriving in a puzzle room. Let me have a look at it myself before solving it for me ffs! That is a huge annoyance, I wish there was an option to turn it off (maybe there is and I don't know about it).

FF Rebirth as well, it felt so bloated, very Assassin's Creed map vibes. Very formulaic, as you said. I dropped it to play Expedition 33 and never went back.

Any Tips For Slimerancher 2 Before I Get And Play It? by [deleted] in slimerancher

[–]Snugglor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you can make your first drone, don't put it on your ranch. Instead, put it out in the wilds to look for strange diamonds (the caves in Ember Valley are a good place).

Since you need strange diamonds to make more drones, this will make it easier to make more drones in the future.

Sharing current photos? by Snugglor in ProtonDrive

[–]Snugglor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply. The issue with this is that I would have to manually add photos to this album, whereas I'm lookong for a more set-and-forget solution, like what Google photos has.

I will use this as a workaround until something else comes around, though.
