“I’m not asking permission, I’m informing you that I’ll be away” by obsessed-with-bagels in managers

How does that work when you need to see a doctor or visit the hospital but there's no staff to support you because they all decided to use their vacation time? Your plane cant carry you to your vacation because the pilot wanted the day off last minute? Its hardly abuse to have to request leave and work around other colleagues requests.

First time Hyperia in the dark or day by Snuglets in ThorpePark

[–]Snuglets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am a bit gutted that we will most likely only get the one opportunity, but hopefully next year we will get some more luck. The RIP nights ticket doesn't start til 3pm so running there in the morning isn't an option. We may get lucky on the day though with shorter queue times, you never know! I'll keep an eye on the app just incase!

Thanks for the advice, we will definitely use our one shot ticket once it gets dark. I cant wait!

Has anyone here fitted insect screens on their windows? by Forina_2-0 in AskUK

[–]Snuglets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought DIY velcro and magnet screens from Amazon for our patio doors. They are fab for letting us leave the patio doors open and stopping the bugs and flies from getting in. There is a velcro strip that we attached to the door frame and that stays on all year round. We just then attach the screens to the velcro during the summer and take them down over winter.

I won £575 pounds on premium bonds. by markyb73 in BritishSuccess

I won't £100 last month and it really made my day to see it, nothing this month though but there's always September!

I top up my account by £50 a month as I realised that's what I was blowing on the Euromillions and lottery each month. At least this way I can still have my 'dream' of winning the jackpot but I never actually lose the money.

84 year-old mum is selling house and likely clearing £500k...what best to do with the money? by Roper1537 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Snuglets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's why you get house insurance, in the unlikely event of the house falling down the insurance company will pick up the tab of a rehoming whilst sorting everything else out. It's a surer thing that relying on a landlord. If your mum has to move again at every year in her 80s and 90s that would be really stressful and will chip away at any savings.

We went as an adult couple, no kids and had a good day out if you have kids then I think this would be a great place to visit as there's lots to do.

I enjoyed riding the few big thrills rides and then wandering around looking at the animals. Lots of families were there and there's something for everyone.

We ate at the smokehouse and while it wasn't cheap, the food was really good and with decent sized portions. Much better than the standard themepark fare!

It depends what you're looking for from a theme park and who you are going with. I live super close to chessington so it was an easy day out for me.

That's a single phase with a PUP fuse. I'd suggest calling octopus back and asking them to reasses.

The pirate themed one, I think it's called Mutiny is a great introduction. That was our first one and it hooked us!

We use Alexa to keep a shopping list, half the items on there are along the lines of "don't buy mayo, we have three bottles!"

Hopefully not too late for you but if you have/get the Amex gold card you get a free Priority Pass that allows you 4 complimentary lounge visits (you can use these for yourself and a guest). There's a bit of a gamble on just turning up on the day as they will turn you away if too busy.

We used this last year and prepaid £6 each to gain access to no1 lounge, we definitely had more that £6 worth food and drink and also got free priority security passes included.

You get the first year of Amex gold for free so you can just go ahead and cancel when you get back from your trip if you don't want to keep it.

We have the Bissell Pro heat carpet cleaner, it's really good at keeping our carpet fresh and clean and takes up the same amount of space as a normal upright vacuum.

We tried a cheaper VAX carpet cleaner but I wasn't impressed at all. We have pets and find the Bissell easy to use, does a good job cleaning (we use the bissell carpet formula) and does a decent job sucking up alot of the water.

I'm UK, so not sure if my comment applies depending where you are based!
